Vital Villan Interviews: Jake Findlay

It is Jake Findlay's turn on the Vital Villan Interviews..

1 - How long have you been a Villa fan and how did you first get the Claret & Blue faith?

Elder brother was a fan and got converted in about 1971.

2 - What was your first game?

Against Manure in 74.

3 - What is your most memorable moment as a Villa fan?

Apart from the big one in 82 my next favourite was the league cup victory against Leeds with Savo scoring a belter. I thought that team had real potential.

4 - And the worst moment?

Easy, standing in the away end at St Andrews when Enckleman let the ball go under his foot.

5 - Who are your favourite current Villa players?

Laursen, Carew and Young.

6 - Which former player/s are your ultimate heroes?

Brian Little. Still think he was the most skilful and best balanced player I have seen in the claret and blue.

7 - Which player do you think was the worst to ever put on the team colours?

Quite a few. However I despised the Graham Turner era – he was certainly the worst manager we have ever had. Worst player was Dean Glover from that era.

8 - What is the best goal you have seen Villa score and which is your favourite game?

Best goal was the Milosevic goal at Wembley.

Favourite game was against Tranmere in the league cup semi at Villa Park. When we equalised the aggregate score the ‘your not singing anymore’ chant came from every corner of the ground. Absolutely deafening. Unbeliveable game of football.

9 - Best away ground visited?

Unfortunately, Old Trafford.

10 - Who would you like to see Villa sign this summer?

Boruc, Bentley, Bullard, Palacios, Micah Richards, Ashley Cole and David Villa

11 - What are your predictions for us this season in the:
a) League
5th
b) Europe Will not qualify from the intertoto
c) Carling Cup Winners
d) Fa Cup Semi finals

12 - What is your opinion of Martin O'Neill?

I think he has given us stability and belief. I think he will get us to the champions league in two years time.

13 - What is your opinion of Randy Lerner and the new board?

I was never a fan of Ellis and his annoying belief that he was Aston Villa. It is nice that they appear to want to give the club back to the fans. It feels good.

14 - Where do you sit at Villa and are you a season ticket holder?

I am a season ticket holder and since I now take two of my kids I have moved from the holte to the lower north.

15 - And finally if you could invite 4 people connected to Villa, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would they be? And you can add one bit of top totty as well to make the party go with a 'bang' ;o)

Brian Little as he was my hero. Ron Saunders as he gave us years of success and amazing trophies. Big Fat Ron as he would be a good laugh and made Villa play amazing football and finally Paul McGrath to get wrecked with. The totty would be the sky weather girl Lucy Verasamy, she is a doll.

With thanks to Jake Findlay

Good mix of dinner party guests Jake Findlay. Definitely make for interesting conversation. Agree about Enckleman's blunder at St Andrews. I'll never forget the feeling as that rolled into the back of our net. Interesting responses, good interview.
