Vital Villan Interviews: Holtender81

Vital Villan Interviews: Holtender81
It is Holtender81's turn on the Vital Villan Interviews..

1 - How long have you been a Villa fan and how did you first get the Claret & Blue faith?

Since I can remember. Since I was kicking a ball I did it wearing claret and blue.

2 - What was your first game?
1988, Villa 2 Millwall 0. Great game

3 - What is your most memorable moment as a Villa fan?

Watching us beat Man Utd at Wembley in 1994 I reckon. But last seasons 5-1 against the Sty would run it pretty close.

4 - And the worst moment?
The 2nd Graham Taylor spell where he well and truly fudged us up, followed by the DOL years. I for one don’t blame DOL, all the blame sits with Doug for me.

5 - Who are your favourite current Villa players?
Laursen and Carew for me. Just quality.

6 - Which former player/s are your ultimate heroes?

Not the typical choices, but Tony Daley and Dalian Atkinson for me. Daley used to get me off my seat every time he had the ball. But I used to love the way Dalian played, before he went sh1t. That season when we one the cup in 94, he was the best striker in the league for me.

7 - Which player do you think was the worst to ever put on the team colours?

I suppose Balaban would have to be up there, but to be fair, he didn’t really get chance to put the shirt on! Think I’ll have to go Curcic though. What a pile of cr@p.

8 - What is the best goal you have seen Villa score and which is your favourite game?
Has to be Dalian’s goal at Wimbledon. Priceless. Best ever game? Again, last seasons 5-1 will take some beating but I think for emotion, teamwork, and amazement, our 2nd leg against Tranmere in 94 takes some beating.

9 - Best away ground visited?

Old Trafford and The Emirates are spectacular but are as lively as a wake. For atmosphere, the old baseball ground had something special.

10 - Who would you like to see Villa sign this summer?

I'd like to see us get Bentley, I think that would really signal our intentions. Other than that, and a bit of long shot, but Van Der Vaart. I think he could be the playmaker we’ve missed since Merson.
11 - What are your predictions for us this season in the:
a) League
6th

b) Europe I think as we’re unseeded, we will do well to get out of the group stages unless we are very lucky with the draw.

c) Carling Cup 5th round
d) Fa Cup 3rd round defeat to Man Utd!

12 - What is your opinion of Martin O'Neill?
Obviously well respected, which is good for us. It shows we mean business. I’m disappointed by his transfer dealings to be honest. I feel if we’d have had Gregory in charge of this budget we’d be spending like nobody’s business. I do wish he’d be more direct with his answers during interviews as well, he don’t half skate around the issues!!! Other than that, love him to bits.

13 - What is your opinion of Randy Lerner and the new board?

Randy is the best thing that has happened to my club since I’ve been a fan. He seems to genuinely want to have a successful team on his hands, rather than a profit making scheme. Out of all the foreign owners around, I truly believe we have the best. He has the perfect balance of support and trust. He lets MON run his team (as opposed to Abramovich who picks and chooses his own), and he supports MON when needed, as opposed to them scousers.

14 - Where do you sit at Villa and are you a season ticket holder?
Season Ticket holder. Always in the upper Holte, and have just managed to get right in the middle at the back. Bring on next season!!!

15 - And finally (stolen without shame from Vital Arsenal!) if you could invite 4 people connected to Villa, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would they be? And you can add one bit of top totty as well to make the party go with a 'bang' ;o)

William McGregor, just so I could tell him how his little idea has turned into one of the most amazing industries in the world. And tell him how thankful we are for giving us our team.

DOL. I want to know what happened between him and doug!!!!

Johnny Dixon. I’d want to know what it was like playing in that team. And find out what villa was like back then.

Dalian. Reckon he’d be a laugh.

Jessica Alba. Ace.

Yes, the second coming of Graham Taylor was hardly the re-union we had all hoped for was it?. Lets not overlook the excellent job he did first time around though. Good collection of dinner guests though, with Jessica Alba for afters. Cant be bad.
