Vital Villan Interviews: Mickdub

Vital Villan Interviews: Mickdub
Mickdub takes the Vital Villan interview.

1 - How long have you been a Villa fan and how did you first get the Claret & Blue faith?

Since I was 9 and my Dad was all excited when Villa were promoted to the first division in 1975. They had also won the league cup. My Mam and Dad although both Irish lived in Birmingham and were married there. My oldest brother and sister were born there and that's how my connections to Villa came about.

2 - What was your first game?

Actually it was seen Villa play a friendly in Ireland, cant remember who they played but they won 5-0 and Nigel Spinks was very entertaining in goal.

3 - What is your most memorable moment as a Villa fan?

European Cup final win, I think I was the only person in the school that supported Villa. The 1977 2nd replay win over Everton, it was the first game I seen on a colour TV!

4 - And the worst moment?

2000 FA cup final, never looked like scoring.

5 - Who are your favourite current Villa players?

Martin Laursen, Ashley Young.

6 - Which former player/s are your ultimate heroes?

Mr McGrath and I'll be biased, I always like to see an Irish player at Villa.

7 - Which player do you think was the worst to ever put on the team colours?

I hate any player who doesn't try, Balaban was poor and I think if Milosovic tried harder he could have been a superstar.

8 - What is the best goal you have seen Villa score and which is your favourite game?

Milosovic against Leeds and Steve Staunton against Utd. On the morning of the Utd game my brother told his wife he had a nightmare that Utd. beatVilla. A few minutes later he told her he had a dream she had left him. She wasn't impressed that he had a nightmare that Villa lost and only a dream that she had left him! But that's him, he brings her to the cinema so he doesn't have to talk to her!!

9 - Best away ground visited?

Would love to see Villa in Champions League final in Croke Park Dublin! Fantastic stadium.

10 - Who would you like to see Villa sign this summer?

I think MON is building a team, not buying one, so I'm happy to see the team take another year or two to develop, I believe it will bring longer lasting success eventually.

11 - What are your predictions for us this season in the:
a) League
Top 7

b) Europe Final
c) Carling Cup Depends how Europe is going
d) Fa Cup What the hell, let's win it.

12 - What is your opinion of Martin O'Neill?

Very honest and if really successful over next couple of years Utd. will probably come looking for him but I believe he will stay loyal and could be at Villa for a long time.

13 - What is your opinion of Randy Lerner and the new board?

Super so far.

14 - Where do you sit at Villa and are you a season ticket holder?

I live in Ireland so only get to a few games, its hard even trying to book ahead for a game the way TV stations change fixtures and with the EUFA cup this year there will probably be a lot of Sunday games.

15 - And finally (stolen without shame from Vital Arsenal!) if you could invite 4 people connected to Villa, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would they be? And you can add one bit of top totty as well to make the party go with a 'bang' ;o)

If there were nice women there I'd invite Balaban, Milosovic, Cascarino and Reo Coker as I'd be the only one with a chance of scoring!!

With thanks to...Mickdub

Yes, they could still be playing right now and wouldn't have scored. What a thoroughly disappointing game that was, no so much that we lost, more that we just didn't compete.
