Man-of-the-match for West Ham

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by Harkcombr, who was our man-of-the-match against West Ham.

54% voted for new boy John Carew who scored on his home debut.

23% opted for Dutch international left-back Wilfred Bouma who seems to have finally found his feet at Villa.

10% said Thomas Sorensen.

8% Ashley Young leaving 3% voting for Gavin McCann and just 2% for Gareth Barry.

Thought Carew was excellent and we looked a poorer side when he went off. Bouma played really well, he and Barry look like they're developing a good understanding.

Nice to see a few players in the frame instead of the usual one or two!

Carew isnt fully match fit and used to the premiership strengths yet next season he will flourish just like drogba at chelsea

I personally thought that Freddie just about shaded it, although there were four or five particularly outstanding individual showings. I like the way that Freddie has fought back from some disappointing times for him at VP, and he's now really putting together an impressive run.

Freddie's in a different class this season. Just shows what a good manager can bring out of a jaded player. - also lost a few pounds but gained a lot more confidence now he knows what is expected of him.

I thought McCann had a good game, IMHO there were many good performances on the day.

Carew looks like he has what it takes to be a real star!

Carew was awesome. A Holte End Hero in the making. It's great to see Bouma playing so well too. I read somewhere that he said he's learnt more in 6 months under MON than he did for 12 months under DOL.

I picked Carew because of the impact he had on the game, but agree with the comments about Freddie, he was outstanding again. I am in Amsterdam today and on the way in to the city from the airport I saw the local paper, and there on the back page is a pic of Freddie in Villa kit against Chelsea, loadsa Dutch gobbl-de-gook underneath it but just thought it was cool to see him making headlines over here.

Yes, agree jonah. He's had a few set-backs and some tough times since joining us, but its good now to see him looking confident and comfortable. Hopefully he'll steer clear of injuries that have also hit him at some key times.
