A Song For The Lads?
We seem limited in our songs for different players.
The worst one being 'theres only one ...... (any named player you want).
So lets ensure that we do not start singing 'theres only one John Carew or only one Ashley Young'.
The tunes have to be simple for songs about players to work (Dwight Yorke Dwight Yorke being the exception) so how about 'Ashley Young Ashley Young Ashley Young' to the tune of 'ere we go 'ere we go 'ere we go?
And for John Carew, 'He's claret. And Blue. His name is John Carew, The Holte End roars, the Holte End roars (repeat)?

I've often argued that back in the late 60's, throughout the 70's, and into the 80's we had many more songs and chants that used to resound from the Holte, than are ever out there now. However, now I'm not so sure. When sitting down with the purpose of coming up with an old list that could be used, with different words/names etc and sung loud and proud at todays games, I really struggled. Perhaps the ravages of time cloud my memory, or maybe there just weren't that many songs back then, or at least nowhere near as many as I thought I could recall.
