Now Will You Believe?

Now will you believe?

After weeks of silly press stories linking Martin O'Neill with tales of disappointment in Randy Lerner, is it time for those same people to retract those thoughts and believe that he is here for the betterment of Aston Villa?

The last 48 hours have seen something at Villa Park that leaves supporters high on excitement for the first time in a long while.

Indeed, since arriving here in August, we have seen money spent on improvements to Bodymoor Heath, the modernisation of the Holte Hotel and even, shock horror, involving supporters in real dialogue.

Now add to that:

9.5m on Ashley Young (move pending)
6m on Stilyan Petrov
The capture of John Carew

And PLEASE BELIEVE !!!

I am already a beleiver Penfold but the Carew deal proves noting, hasn't cost us a penny. I just hope the Young deal goes through as expected, now that will shut some people up!

I would argue that it proves that we are willing to go and pay the wages and that players are willing to come, wouldn't you? This was not happening under Deadly. Let's be more positive, we're too quick to knock.
PENFOLD17
and they'll be even more willing as the seasons go on and the Villa get back up towards the top of the Prem more regularly, the early signs are there, the summer should bring even more job as the major re-building will surely take place?
The Fear
I'm not knocking, as I said, I'm a believer, not a trace, no doubt in my mind, I'm in....oh sorry got a bit carried away there:-) I doubt, however that Carew's wages are any more than Baros's were. My point is that in order to signal intent we need to complete a deal bringing in a big name without, arguably, our biggest name going in the opposite direction. I have no doubts about Randy or MON but there are still those out there that need convincing and untill we get that first big name this will continue. Some will probably continue doubting untill we've spent 20 million plus on transfers and have a promise of more to come, but then some people are never satisfied.
Villain Of The North
I ain't too sure MON has finished in this window yet?
PENFOLD17
The main thing that I am seeing is quality and boy oh boy do we need it.The MON players are starting to shape his team.Ideally a prolific striker to play off Carew will sort out the frontline. We are getting there baby steps, but getting stronger with each one.Just saw that Lyon have 11 strikers on their books including Milan, mmmm. " There may be trouble ahead"
OneloveVilla
yea am excited at the moment

"ONE SMALL STEP FOR O'NEILL, ONE HUGE STEP FOR VILLA". Neil Armstrong, spoke these words, more or less, almost 40 years ago; but I thought they are still very appropriate for us today. Well done Randy and Martin, long may we continue to have your leadership at Villa Park.

Please Lord let us have our place among the stars, I've brought the tickets, payed for the Sky, I've travelled, north, east, south and west for the Villa, Please let us have our moment in the sun. God bless Randy,General and MON. Now lets go and kick some premiership ass !!!!

The question was asked as if we didn't believe before, well we did, most of us anyway

I don't think any of us doubted Randy would spend we have all been eager to find out when. *****, I will wear a stettson and chaps (only of a weekend normally) if it means we start competing again! yee ha!

Carew has played in 5 countries for top-top teams. He's now found one in England!!!!!!! That is the calibra we are attracting. I agree with Fear, the main job will be in the summer but this is looking quite positive. The Newcastle match is on the last day of the window. We have 9 days left where most of the action takes place. Methinks there's more to come.
Gazvilla
We still need a player(s) from midfield to supply the service for our strikers to score. So what I'm hoping for is some real creativity in midfield - maybe this will have to wait until summer.

Glad to have stimulated the debate. I know we al believe deep down but let's just get right behind MON now and keep all the chat positive.
PENFOLD17
Delighted with all that has gone on since the takeover, Baros leaving and Carew coming in can only be good for both players and both clubs.

No, the negative people, the doubters, the moaners, they'll still be out there, being negative, doubting and moaning, because thats what they are, its what they do. There's been a lot of such people posting short-sighted, ridiculous comments on the various forums, and todays activities, and hopefully the completed transaction to bring Ashley Young to Brum, it still wont be enough. They'll still keep on with their negative vibes, questioning, doubting and criticizing off field developments and improvements, questioning RL's motives etc., etc., etc. Then in the next breath, they attempt to convince and assure us that they're Villa supporters. No, they'll never change.

so far so good but lets not get ahead of ourselves in terms of expectations on the team or MON. V Happy with moves so far and window not closed yet well done MON and Randy.
