What Position Do We Need To Strengthen?

What Position Do We Need To Strengthen?
Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by CPAVFC, what positions should Martin O'Neill be looking to sign?

69% say a striker.

22% right midfield

4% centre half and 4% centre midfield.

That left just 1% saying left midfield, which is hardly a shock when you consider Gareth Barry plays there!

I have to admit I think we need someone to put the ball in the net BUT think the more important part of the equation is a playmaker who can set the strikers up, if not the lack of goal frustration could well continue. That said, I have been known to be wrong before, only very occasionally though you understand? :o)

I honestly think we will be left upset and frustrated due to a lack of signings come the 1st Feb.

Right again JF (you're on a role mate) we need quality midfielders, playmakers, then the goals will come.

Buying SWP at 12mill would be a good buy -if he genuinely wants to come to Villa Park.

We need strikers, preferably two, although if Milan Baros had a long term VP future, we could settle for one. In all other areas I believe we could muddle by until the summer, but goalscoring currently is, and always has been since day one, our prime problem area. Agree that bringing in Wright-Phillips to play wide right would also be an excellent piece of business. A big name player, capable of getting fans off their feet.

It does look like this will be a wasted chance to increase our tiny squad. However if a target man is signed and no one else it would be a bit sad but still a huge step forword we need one thats the simple fact.

Squad wise, we need to strengthen all round, then clear out the deadwood.
