Biggest Villa Flop?

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by crosswesleyanchapel, who was Villa's biggest flop.

Only one man according to the results, step forward Mr Bosko Balaban with 82%.

Bosko joined Villa during the John Gregory era for a fee of 5.8 million, a sum that now seems almost unbelievable due to the fact I don't think he ever actually started a Premiership game did he? Bosko does have 10 goals in 28 games for Croatia mind you. He is currently playing for Club Brugge.

Nil Lamptey and Stan Collymore each got 5% of the vote.

David Unsworth, or more likely is wife as she wore the trousers, 4% for his few day stay at Villa and love machines Sasa Curcic 3%.

That left David Ginola getting just 1% showing he was less a flop and more a missed opportunity as John Gregory obviously didn't fancy playing him once he arrived from Spurs.

I thought Dion Dublin had the biggest Villa flop?
That was one of the most disturbing things I ever heard Alex Ferguson say...
for those of us a bit (lot) longer in the tooth, what about Oscar Arce? Freddie Mwila?
i'd like to flop it on them cheerleaders pom-poms !!
the thing with Ginola is......he was worth it
In modern times I fully agree with the 'nomination' of Bosko Balaban. I'd love to know the full facts, the ins and outs of that signing, and why he could never get a look in. Why stop at Oscar Arce jonah? Lets include his brother Hector. They were a pair of clowns thats for sure.
Absolutely Glensider, thanks for reminding me, and who was the other bloke who came over with Freddie Mwila? Weren't they from Nigeria/kenya or somewhere?
Could also argue for 9.5m and only one good season, dare i say it.........Angel.
We have had our share of clowns over the years, I wonder if any other club has paid so much for so little over the years.
Now is it just me or do I detect a very slight feeling that Mackaavfc don't rate Angel?
Mack, i agree with you on that one. Angel has been a flop. just not as big a flop as those on the list.
LOL Jonah - I would never slate him during a match but i just feel for 9.5m he has not been worth the money. I can honestly say i dont think he will still be a Villa player come next season.
He was painfully short of pace last night.
I wont mention last night coz I iknow i am in a minority of one about his performance :-) but, overall I do agree with you mackaavfc. For the money we paid for him we have a right to expect more from him, particularly as I believe he is also the top wage earner there, or at least he was when he signed the new deal under D'OL (sorry to bring him up)!! And he most definitely should be one of the players to go as we rebuild the team.
This time next year, surely the result would be Stan Petrov?
lets hope not Jamie! as has been said on here before, with the right players to complement him, petrov will prove a good signing. I cant believe the djemba twins have not yet been mentioned !
and while i'm at it. guys, see the hot cheerleaders at the top? am i the only one to make a 'i'd do her' reference? have you all given up making mysogonist comments for the new year?
that's coz you can only pick one, not two D'oh!!
Why have you shown a pic of the cheerleaders for an article on flops? Certainly no flops there, just very nice and pert!! Bobby, unfortunately you cannot "do" the lovely young lady as the young ladies have just formed an orderly queue so they can all "do" me!!! PS Time to go JPA, you make John Hartson look like world 100m champion!! UTV SOTC
i'll take sloppy seconds on that ricky !!
lolol ok bobby when you have finished I will gladly take even sloppier thirds!!
looks like the cheerleaders are gonna get "roasted"? Ill video camera it!!
I'll say Drobny
Balaban must have gone to the Djemba-Djemba school of not trying in training. He must have had ability but managed to make 3 different managers not pick him.
Has everyone forgot Ivo Stas? Was it Banik Ostrave we signed him from and he never played?
Going back a bit, Tommy Craig was a major flop. We'd attempted to sign him a couple of times before we actually did, only for him to become a disaster when he finally arrived.
