Villa - January Transfer Gossip

Gazvilla asked for an article we can all update on transfer news and action, so here it is.

Update in the article comments section as below whenever you see links or if you beat me to breaking news!

So far we have been linked with David Nugent, Mark Viruka (!), Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane, Shaun Wright Phillips (but only by us fans), Darren Bent, Matthew Upson, Zoltan Gera, Curtis Davies, Phil Bardsley.

Lets see who we end up with!

Freedy Eastwood is linked by the Sun. Halford linked because Bardsley's going to Sunderland, Taylor of Portsmouth also. I've read Barton has a buy out clause of 5 million, so if he wants out he could leave. Not a rumour but Newcastle seem to be allowing Parker out. Anyone fancy him?

Micah Richards to Chelski for 18 Mill (paper talk) would raise the cash for SWP?

So here are the rumours and wish list to date: - Goalkeepers Matt Murray (Donzarra and papers) £1 Mill & untried. Defenders Richard Stearman (Gordonsleftboot and papers) A right sided defender available for £750 000 from Leicester. Greg Halford a right sided defender from Colchester (Thegreatdando). I’ve heard he’s a good up-and-coming player for around £900 000. Phil Bardsley of Man U (Papers) Appears to be going to Sunderland on loan. A right sided defender available for about £1 Mill. Midfielders Joey Barton of Man City (Papers) for about £5 Mill. Doesn’t want to leave and is attracting the attention of plenty of sides. Kim Kalstrom from Lille (Suggestion by Sklnner80). Around £5 Mill for a decent playmaker. Franck Ribéry of Marseille (chris the villan). For around £12 Mill you get a quality but complicated player who can play anywhere across the midfield. Phil Taylor of Portsmouth (Papers) £5 Mill? Playing out of his skin and interesting other teams. Wingers James Milner of Newcastle. Well documented this one. Anything over £5 Mill would persuade Fat Freddy to part with him. This means we’ll pay over the odds. Shaun Wright-Phillips from Chelski (Paper talk and a Vital Villa favourite). £10 Mill but a favourite of every other site. A welcome addition to us in the Tony Daley mould. Ricardo Quaresma from Porto (Suggestion by Deemz). A right winger for about £6 Mill and is quality. Strikers David Nugent from Preston for about £5 Mill (Paper talk, sandgroanun and glensider). Everton linked with him as well. Untried and not everyone’s convinced. Jermain Defoe from Spurs (Papers and glensider) A cool £12 Mill for a player in the groove. Can’t see it myself as he’s happy whilst he’s in the team. Robby Keane from Spurs (Paper talk). £5 Mill and seems to be the second best option though now. Knows where the net is though. Darren Bent from Charlton (Papers and Vital Villa). £8 Mill pacey, and a Vital Villa favourite, but will Pardue sell him now? Sean Maloney of Celtic (Thegreatdando) Available for £1 Mill but Celtic fans are divided on him. If he’s struggling up North will he cut it in the Prem? Freddy Eastwood from Southend (Paper talk). Around £2 Mill for an untried striker. Kepa Blanco González from Seville (Suggestion by Christo). Available for about £5 Mill. Untried but looks useful. 3 days to go!!!!!!!!

I know most if not all of u wont have heard of this guy but TYMOSCHUK playing for shaktar donetsk centre mid was totaly dominant in the world cup.and far more likely to be able to cope with the prem unlike his international team mate andri shev. 27 and Capped 60 times or so for Ukraine.not a rumor or anything just the type of combative midfielder we could use.

Cash going to Liverpool, or coming to Villa?!? Hmmm, who would they go for from us? They can have Baros back if they want, maybe we'd get Crouch back? Can't think of anyone in our midfield as we surely wouldn't let Barry go? Gabby I don't think would profit from a move now. A defender? Only Olof would be a potential surely? Laursen if fit would be but he isn't fit. Don't think they need a keeper, so ... Hmmm, interesting!

Just read that Newcastle will offer Barton 55,000 a week can we really compete?Think a keeper should be top of mons list not to convinced by our new tracksuit warrior!!

mackaavfc and jasper. C Ronaldo is tearing the premiership to pieces at the moment with pure skill , pace , excitement and goals which is almost single handedly keeping Man utd in pole position in the league. Quaresma could be doing the same thing for whoever signs him. He would put bums on seats at villa park as season ticket sales would go through the roof...!

We have to get rid of the overpaid, lazy muppets that are JPA & MB in Jan! If we cannot get Bent and Nugent, I'd go for Sharp from Scunthorpe and Hoskins from Rotherham who both know where the back of the net is. Instead of £75K a week they wouldn't cost more than £20K a week in wages, and I bet they would both play for the shirt AND score more goals than our current 2 disgraceful prima donnas!

One name that isn't on the list but was mentioned was Lee Cook of QPR, I think he's a left winger that has been putting in some decent performances and is suposedly rated very highly, but not sure if he'd move now as QPR have just recently tied him to a long term deal in the summer just gone.
