An Ode To Aston Villa
By Tariq ArafaIf in adversity you can hope and not wither,
While others lack ambition, sit back and dither.
If yet more promises bring another false dawn,
But you keep praying that your saviour will be born.
If everyone before you crumbles like toast,
When pride and passion is needed the most,
If you want Goliath to slay David, as a means to achievement,
Only to lose and feel the sense of bereavement.
If you believe age has a way of letting us know,
That there is a time, and a place when we all have to go.
If you respect the elderly, even with their deaf ears,
But think there is a better place for them to be after so many years.
If you sit awake at night contemplating your fate,
Wanting to escape the ordinariness of late,
Thirsty to rekindle past glories that were won,
You'll be a Villa fan my son.
