'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Moyes' Merrymen vs. MON's Marauders

Goodison Park

The Divine Duo (Everton Preview)

You have to wonder what it`s like to be Sir Alex Ferguson at the moment. His normal managerial rivals have gone off the rails more than, well, a train.

Chelsea have sacked their manager, Rafa hasn`t recovered from his rant in January, and Arsene Wenger has spent so much time not seeing things, he hasn`t seen his teams slide out of contention.

Meanwhile a certain Mr Moyes and Mr O`Neill, are sneaking up on the "big four" whilst nobody notices.

It`s Villa, Everton, 3-2! Preview!

Vital Quotes:

Who said this?

"I didn't see that particular incident."

Villa boss Martin O`Neill has taken himself down memory lane, thinking back to that marvellous last gasp victory the last time his rapid-raiding side took all 3 points from Goodison. MON spoke to

"'It was an important game for both clubs.

"We matched results for a while after that so it spurred us on and had the same effect on Everton.

"If their late equaliser had been the final kick of the match, we would obviously have been very disappointed to drop the two points.

"It was a fantastic finish and it was part of our great run away from home this season."

No fewer than 6 Villans were called up to Fabio Capello`s England squad that faced Spain in Seville on Wednesday night, and despite 1 pulling out and 2 benchwarmers, Jimmy Milner knew just who to thank for the call-up to the training camp.

"It's great credit to the lads, Villa and the manager putting his faith in English players," he told the BBC.

"He's brought some young English players and what a great job he's done. His track record speaks for itself."

"Coming to Aston Villa has given me stability; it's a very stable club at the moment. The owner knows what he wants and the manager and the owner work very well together."

I tried to contact David Moyes for a quote, the only problem was seemingly that when I sneezed, it sounded like I had said 'Anichebe` and was met with a stony silence, before the phone cut out. Must have been a bad signal.

Moyes' Merrymen Team News:

Everton are unable to play the Brazillian loan striker Jo, who is cup tied. Marouane Fellaini is set to return to the squad having recovered from yet another afro-related injury. In reality, it`s apparently a back injury he suffered. Louis Saha may well make it for comedy purposes.

Player to watch: Dan Gosling:

Gosling`s goal against Liverpool was fantastic, and the youngster was rewarded with a league start in Everton`s victory over Bolton Wanderers. He`ll be the focus I`d expect from the media angles alongside O`Neill`s merry men, more about that now!

MON's Marauders Team News:

Martin O`Neill will have had to assess the fitness of his squad following the international break, with reports that Stiliyan Petrov picked up a knock playing for Bulgaria. Emile Heskey looked to be struggling towards the end of his 45 mintues in Seville, and obviously Luke Young could be a doubt with a sore toe.

Expect a couple of surprises, if we`re really in comedy mood…Salifou!

Player to watch: Gabby Agbonlahor:

Lets hope he's a bit more useful than his international appearance suggested!

Match Facts & Stats

There is no logic behind this matches music, absolutely none whatsoever. No clever links, no witty current affairs relation, no swipe at someone, nothing. Just quality.

I suppose I could have done something "love" related. I didn`t however for the
benefit of every married bloke registered on Vital Villa, that`s trying to forget.

Aston Villa are unbeaten in the last 11 matches, the last defeat was when a team not even worthy of a "reserve" tag flopped against Hamburg in the final UEFA Cup group match.

The Villans, backed by an ever vociferous Claret & Blue faithful are visiting Liverpool for this FA Cup weekend. Here at Vital Villa we do understand that away games do have certain difficulties, and we aim to please. Therefore, sponsored by Jonathan Fear`s hairdresser, we have provided you with a handy phrase-book, as communicating with the locals of Merseyside can be awkward, Scouse in bold.

1.) I believe we shall have to agree to disagree on the matter.
Eh Eh Eh Calm Down Calm Down.

2.) Excuse me bartender, I wish to order oneself one of your finest ales.
Gizza Bevvy!

3.) Would you come coming over here a moment please?
Come ed

4.) I`m afraid my musical knowledge could always do with improvement.
Sung: "Ferry, cross the Mersey"

Vital Villa is the #1 place for all the important information regarding your away-day trips.

Ref Watch:

The referee for this important FA Cup fixture, as Villa seek entry to the 6th round for the first time since David James didn`t win it for us in 2000, is Mr Phil Dowd who comes from Stoke-on-Trent. Despite living just 20 minutes away, I`ve never met him, but if I did, he`d probably give me a yellow card. 102 yellows in 32 with 4 red cards and it`s just his second Villa game of the season!

Match Prediction:

I think we`re going to sneak this one 4-0. I dare say that silly Mug will be along later, to say what Mystic Mug predicts! Don't forget folks, this game is on Setanta!

Next Fixtures:

Здравствуйте! CSKA Moscow roll into Villa Park for an exciting European night. They really do this time, honestly. I know I got it wrong last week, I`m sorry.

Mystic Mug after taking great offence at being called silly by Murph had to have his balls polished before reluctantly agreeing to do a prediction. 2-1 to the Villa and a happy day for Villans as Man Utd go crashing out after scoring 3 own goals!

With Yakubu, Saha, Vaughan, Anichebe, Jo, Pienaar, Fellaini all out, it's effectively Cahill and Arteta Vs if we're hoping to score. This could be the day of Tony Hibberts first ever goal!

What's wrong with Anichebe? Is he injured?

He's coming back to fitness, played for the reserves mid week but doubt he'll even be on the bench. Unless we don't actually have 18 other players which is a distinct possibility. After all we had Jacobsen on there when he hadn't even started training again...

Anichebe may well be being rushed back after all, if Osman fails his fitness test Moyes will literally have no choice but to start him.

will be a very hard game regardless of Evertons injury list, they're still smarting from the last defeat, and like ourselves have improved over the season, so should be a great FA cup tie, still can't see us losing thou, but draw looks most likely result....GO ON THE VILLA
