Don't get me wrong, winning scruffy is not ideal but...

Too many times over the past 6-7 seasons we've rolled over as soon as a game got tough. We didn't have the steel through the middle we needed with the likes of Westwood, Lescott, Elphick, Richards etc as our backbone.

We've had two scruffy wins now, that'll breed confidence for two relatively easy games coming up. Anyone who has played at any level of football even Sunday league knows the great feeling of winning a tough and tight game. Absolutely we should not take any complacency into those games, id continue keeping it tight and bedding ourselves into games waiting patiently for the openings. At some point, we'll hammer someone perhaps one of either Bolton or Burton, who knows

Adomah: 8 MOTM - another good showing. Why on earth he was left out so long I don not know.

I guess re Uncle Albert, it could be argued leaving him out has given him the jolt needed to realise he's not an automatic choice, anyone can be dropped. He's been so much better and more consistent since his return.

I'm not sure I agree with that, Elmohamady was absolutely shit when played right wing and was far worse than Adomah so the decision to drop him couldn't have been based on form. I reckon Adomah was dropped purely because Bruce wanted to ensure his mate Elmohamady was in the starting 11

I will take a win in any way shape or form at present to build momentum and confidence within the squad

Ok no clean sheet but to be pegged back then come back to win will do me

Burton and Bolton coming up, games people are saying are easy...... only problem is those are the games that we rock up to expecting to walk it and expect the other team to roll over and we believe our own hype but they turn out that the other team focus on getting the result against the mighty Aston villa and then our confidence is shattered again.

No game is going to be easy but the simple fact is that if we harbour hopes if promotion then we need to beat the likes of Bolton and Burton. I think we will as well, hopefully with a less disjointed performance than yesterday. Do that and we could go into the international break in the play offs and should then be looking to catch Leeds and wolves.

There are no easy games in this division - even Bolton will turn us over if we don't approach the game properly.

That said, if you have any intention of getting promoted then beating the bottom clubs should be seen as 'run of the mill' victories with points dropped being a genuine upset rather than a regular occurrence.

If this is aimed at me, I want to reiterate the point where I said we should absolutely not be complacent and keep it tight going into it.

If we do that, I expect 6 points

Have to agree David-avfc. Said to my brother at games a few times last season that I got the impression that Bruce didn't fancy Adomah ( ). Whilst it's true he blows hot and cold, that is the case with most wingers, it's the nature of the position. Without checking I believe Adomah had 15 assists plus 5 goals last year. That, along with his great understanding with Kodjia should see him in the team.

That said, as Fear alluded to, when you're left out and know the manager prefers others in your position then it's all about how you react. Albert has been spot on in his attitude - no sulking, didn't push for a move, carried on being an ambassador for the club off the pitch and, crucially, had made himself undroppable with his performances on it.

Not aimed at you buddy.... not aimed at anyone. I've just noticed it during the years that villa have a tendency to build me up to let me down.

Scrappy game, lacking quality, as many in the Championship are. Probably just about deserved the win. Burton on Tuesday will be a difficult game. I'd have us as very slight favourites but they have beaten some decent teams at home over the last season and a bit, so we will have to be near top form. 4 points from the next 2 would equal a decent September, 6 would make it a very good September.

How many one on ones have we missed this season.
Chipping the keeper missing the target.
Sliding it past the keeper missing the target.
Blasting it missing the target.
Hitting the keeper.

So what does Uncle Albert do, takes it around the keeper and rolls it into an empty net........that's the way to do it

He needs to show more intent with the ball. He rarely turns with it even when he has the opportunity to do so and looks to pass sideways or backwards as a safety first option. Did it numerous times today, so frustrating.

He has the ability to be the driving force in midfield but is not showing it. Is he being restricted by Bruce's tactics?. I think he is, as the ball is very quickly spread to the wings of possible.

What I like is the evidence of today in his goal. Apparently he is a big stay on after training one and practise things like free kicks.

I think there is a little confirmation bias on both sides because when I watch him I am watching him play forward passes and trying to make things happen. Obviously he doesnt do that all the time but its what I remember and I think the flip side is seen by other fans. Everytime he doesnt do what you want thats what is remembered.

The guy has a lot of potential I don't buy into things like he played at X level or he is such and such an age. Some guys just go under the radar or take a while to develop, Keinan Davis has flown right under the radar and Vardy/Hoolahan are two who took a very long time to be seen as quality players.

Not pretty but 3 points in the bag....happy days! Thought we were decent first half, as usual went to sleep from half time for 20 mins but second goal came at the right time to give us another lift. A word of caution however....Burton on Tues won't be the automatic three points some are suggesting and I can imagine a bit of a renewed meltdown if we draw, dare to mention lose...! They have lost only one of their last 6 league games and at home, have beaten Blues ( no great scalp I know!) and Fulham, drawing against Sheffield Weds, losing by a single goal against Cardiff. I know if we harbour hopes of a top 2 finish we've got to look for 3 points at the likes of Burton but a draw won't be that bad a result providing we follow it up with a win on Saturday.

I stick to what I said at the start of the month; 11-12 points is the absolute minimum for Bruce to keep his job. We have 8 points so far. A win and a draw might be acceptable, just, although not exactly stellar. Just 3 points from the next 2 matches and I think questions will be asked, seriously, and anything less could be the end.

Not sure it's been mentioned, but watching highlights back again and it occurred to me Kodjia's through ball for Adomah.

Cracking piece of vision for him and hopefully a sign of things to come given his ball hog heaviness where he was taking the pot shot when better options were on.
