Not the prettiest football, nor the most comfortable but we got the result we wanted.

They had a lot of the ball but very few clear cut chances and their goal had an element of luck.
Would like to see us have more of the ball and control the game better. So frustrating how wasteful we are in possession.

Most pleasing thing is that we didn't fold and managed to fight back for the win. Players starting to deliver when they have to.

Plenty to improve on but if the wins keep coming I don't care. Win the next 2 and we are right back in the mix.

Not sure why anyone thinks there are easy fixtures in this league. Every team is capable of beating another in the Championship, part of the reason why it is so hard to get out of.

That's an entirely reasonable point. This element of the championship is something I'm enjoying. Every week feels like a battle.

Jimmy and Albert seem to have something between them that you can't buy, it just blossoms into a genuine love of playing with each other and understanding on the pitch. The reaction of Jimmy when Adomah sticks the ball in the net is pure class. As good a signing as I hope Snodgrass will be, Jimmy & Albert will be the two that drive us onto the playoffs (baby steps).

Many of us on here were banging on about Adomah and asking why he's been dropped. I gave Bruce a fair bit of stick, but he's done everything I've been asking for in the past few weeks (4-4-2, dropping Gabby & Hutton, playing Adomah) and what's happened? We've started winning.

It's not perfect but it's 6 points in two games

We could very possibly win the next 2 meaning 4 in a row.

That would put us right up there. Let's do it.

That would be too much to contemplate SJH.

Cliche alert , we should take it one game at a time

Well we made hard work of that.
Thought we were well in control first half but it was inevitable, as always, that having not got at least 1 more they would have a chance. Forest were crap first half and no way were they going to be that bad once Warburton had got into them at half time. Johnstone had nothing to do first half.

We were our own worst enemy 2nd half. Giving the ball away time and again. Hourihane is so frustrating. There is a player in there but he keeps going sideways and backwards when he can turn and drive forward. It's doing my head in. Two or three times we passed about 5 times within a 5 yard space when the break was on. Whelan.

Snodgrass was poor but I cannot knock his effort. They worked us out second half. Loading their left side against Snodgrass and Elmo and the massive threat shown by Adomah first half was non existent second half (apart from the last several minutes) as he was starved of the ball.

Davis was chuffing great again and Kodjia has that X factor like he showed with the assist.
Think we just about deserved it and we owed them after last season. Wins a win. Up the villa.

Commentators I was listening to today were saying that that is championship football just grinding results. It wont be pretty or comfortable but its the ones that can get the results that get out.

Obvious yes but worth a reminder here and there.

I feel I am on my own a little with my view of Hourihane because I dont think we can function without him. He is the only central player who can pass it forwards and playing him deeper with Whelan as his only support puts even greater pressure on him. We're asking one guy to do it all and if he doesn't have an immaculate game he gets torn apart.

Underwhelming game. We're way too passive still and never seem to want to take control of the game. There are a lot of very mediocre teams in this league who if we really went for it we could blow them away so it's frustrating to watch us sit back.

I personally dont think we're capable of that and is that Bruces style? Certainly not from what I know and have seen.

He has amassed a number of players who are perfect for sitting behind the ball. A slow but solid backline and 2 midfielders in Whelan and Jedinak (granted he didnt sign Jedinak) that will happily sit infront and protect. Add in Lansbury who fancies himself a Roy Keane and you've got everything you need to keep most games at 0-0.

Not today though.
Difficult coming on when he did but he was atrocious today.

He needs to show more intent with the ball. He rarely turns with it even when he has the opportunity to do so and looks to pass sideways or backwards as a safety first option. Did it numerous times today, so frustrating.

He has the ability to be the driving force in midfield but is not showing it. Is he being restricted by Bruce's tactics?. I think he is, as the ball is very quickly spread to the wings of possible.

What I like is the evidence of today in his goal. Apparently he is a big stay on after training one and practise things like free kicks.

Great play by Kodjia for our first goal , not bad for a player who never passes apparently.

The boy is developing for sure. There are still times when he needs to get his head up and make a pass, but he's getting better all the time.

welcome 3 pts off the back of another moderate/poor performance.
not sure where this cobblers about it being a 'hard league' to get out of comes from - automatically promoted teams for the last 5 yrs + end up at ~ 90 pts - I guess those that get promoted averaging 2 pts per game didn't find it too hard

6 pts from the next two to make up the ground we've lost so far
