Would depend on who the manager is. Newcastle are an example of a club who walked the championship but whose squad could struggle in the PL. But... they have a class manager.

Take nothing from that result free hit for Bruce as far as I am concerned no judgement on him for fielding a reserve team. The only area of concern is that it shows up that our back ups are not
that good. I shiver at the thought of injury to either Terry or Chester.

It's become rather sad how we accept defeat in a cup game when we should be trying to win the bloody thing or what's the point of playing. However, I suppose I will be accused of not being realistic because it doesn't matter and anyway, our current manager has far more on his plate by trying to keep his job.

Over many years, some of my best Villa memories are associated with the League Cup and it's painful to now see it called something I can't even pronounce and to have draws made in the middle of the night in some Asian country.

Talk about devaluing our second most important cup competition after the FA Cup.

Yes Thomas fantastic memories, from the first league cup over two legs against Rotherham.
Top teams didn't even enter then.
If Aston Villa can't be bothered to try and win this league and a cup, they should admit we are second rate and let everyone in free for cup matches and give season ticket holders a £5 shop voucher.

With thier attitude they were lucky to get 11,000, they should donate the gate to Acorns.

Just looking at the league cup results today notably the premier league teams versus the EFL teams. Without seeing the teams which I assume the big boys out our reserves and the EFL clubs a mixture, the results show the huge gulf between the leagues which is why we should easily be in the top 25% of teams I.e. In the playoffs and also highlights the fact if we did manage to go up even with the strongest squad in the league I think we'd struggle as it stands.

I hope if we can go up this season or next we invest big time.

Nottingham Forest played their first 11 most of which played on Saturday. Going to be Interesting if they beat us as to why our players needed a weeks rest after a game.
