I've always liked Adomah, so I'm very pleased he's worked his way back into Bruce's plans. Think he's our best winger (and I include Green in that who will probably go on to be better but isn't yet).

I think if we keep Adomah, Snodgrass, Kodjia and Davis fit and playing regularly together we will score more goals on a regular basis.

Adomah is starting to look more consistent, the being dropped thing I think has worked.

Terry looked very good yesterday and made some very important blocks.

Interesting reading some of the views on here , I'm hoping our luck has finally changed and things start going for us like they did yesterday .
Obviously i won't get carried away because it was quite possible on another day things would have gone their way . They had more of everything than us but as we always say goals are the only thing that matter and we got 3 off the feckers .

Hopefully Koj and Davis together looks the way forward along with Albert who is either brilliant or absolute shite , thankfully 6 times out of 10 he is brilliant on his off days we have options on the bench .

I'm not sure what Hourihane brings to the party , especially if we play 442 , I'm not even convinced that was a 442 as Snoddy never really got back and helped Elmo ., so it was more off a 433 at times.
Taylor I thought was awful especially first half , when he went awol . What is it with us and shite left backs ?
Like I said Terry looked the part at last , Chester i really don't get all the fuss , he's a row z no nonsense sort , lacks pace but hey ho he's the only option at the moment .

Koj could learn a fair bit from Davis in the hold up and lay it off stakes , still loses the ball trying to beat everyone rather than a give and go. He'll score goals but he'd get many more if he was a team player .

Whelan takes loads of stick on here ,he's everything Westwood was supposed to be , except he does win it and play it simple and he never bottles a tackle and he can pass forwards ! poor at pointing though . With a 442 and two attack minded fullbacks and wingers there could be room for him and the Jedi .

Oh and Johnstone wasn't motm for a change !

The bench looked very strong , with no Agoalayear !

Could only listen to it.

Seemed a very good professional performance, another clean sheet and 3 points.

Issue is, is it a one off or is this the kick start.

Need 5 performances and results like this on the bounce just to get back in contention.

Lets now see the same next week

The same results would indeed be good, a little bit more joined up football wouldn't go amiss though.

It showed what we can do. We have to do it consistently.

Not hugely impressed with Snoddy. Would stick Elmo at right wing and shove one of our many RBs at RB.

Elmo is better at right back and we get better delivery from him there.

When was the last time a right back for us delivered a cross like Elmo did yesterday for our third goal.

Thought Snod played the position well, worked up and down, made the pitch wide and tried to get to the byeline and cross.
He should get assists from this position.
If Elmo can do the defensive stuff could be a good pair.

Results like this breed confidence into the squad which is absolutely massive in sport.
Rotate now for Boro in the Cup and then same XI start v forest next Saturday .

Not a great performance but a battling one. Barnsley is not the easiest place to go to and especially come away with a 3-0 win.

For once we had some luck which we deserved after the last few games. SB got the team selection right and his choice and timings of subs was excellent. But why does he have to spoil things with more silly statements about hysteria and keeping people happy for a week. The best way to shut people up Steve is do your job properly on a regular basis and cut out the stupid decisions.

As for performances, I thought JT was absolutely superb easily his best performance for us and my man of the match. Davis, well it looke like we had Benteke back at times and he thoroughly deserved his goal. Adomah, I could never understand why he had been dropped and yesterday he showed why. Elmo, didn't have a great day defending but provided 2 magnificent crosses. I thought Whelan had his best game and broke up their play whenever they came forward.

It's good to see a goalkeeper too who commands his area and has total trust from our defenders. We should pay Manure whatever they want to secure his services.

Kodjia got valuable game time and was very unlucky with the disallowed goal.

The negatives for me were Taylor who had another mare and Snodgrass who although busy was way too predictable.

Let's hope we can get going now and give Forest a beating next week.

Shocked at this comment.

Hourihane is the only player who can pass it forward and find a target, I agree with you and said as much yesterday that he doesnt belong in a 442. I agree again it wasnt a true 442 Kodjia didnt quite play up with Davis.

Back on point Hourihane isnt a player you stick in the side for his defensive ability and he's stuck playing with a guy who is about as mobile as a wheelchair in a muddy field. I hope its a turn, we did well to get a result with that team. That midfield would get blown away by any team with pace. Glenn, Snodgrass, Hourihane and even Adomah its very slow.

Bruce has assembled some miss mash of players I just look at our squad and find it hard to see how you maintain a good consistent 11 when someone is injured. Our lack of pace on the wings is galling.

Villan57 - 17/9/2017 11:19

Disagree with so much, would you prefer Baker over Chester? Thats a true Row Z, no nonsense doesnt belong on a football pitch defender.

Kodjia is 27 or 28 he's not adding anything new to his locker. The future is with that kid and we should build around him.

Whelan is brutal. Like maybe 2 or 3 other posters here we've been watching him do nothing for Ireland for 10 years. For us at this level he'll do a job but hes a shadow of Jedinak and he cannot pass forward. His performance against Georgia was a joke along with the rest of the side.

Matt Lowton destroying Sunderland with a chested interception, 40 yard run and a zinger of a cross onto Weimann's boot. Unbelievable, Jeff.

Whelan had a good game, covered Elmo well at times I can recall a few instances he was defending that area.

I've been disappointed with whelan so far this season, I can't say I've ever noticed him for Stoke even though I've watched him on many occasions but he hasn't looked fit enough nor good enough on the ball. Yesterday he won lots of tackles and 5050s which started the play off for us. Still think he needs to work with the ball better, doesn't seem to have any confidence on it and can only play the way he's facing - perhaps someone needs to let him know what's going on behind him as he's not a natural in that department.

Prefer the Jedi to whelan but if whelan can do that 38 times again this year then happy days. That point right there highlights the issue with this league and players like whelan and Terry - that is the length of the EPL season yet it feels like we've been on a roller coaster already.
