Cannot believe Hogan is getting stick for being in the 6 yard area as a striker!. Just unfortunate, nothing he could do

He was standing on the goal line as a team mate was taking a shot. Nothing he could once the shot was taken but what terrible attacking positioning and movement and lack of awareness to be in that place and situation in the first place.

Sorry, there was alot wrong tonight but our striker standing in the line during a goal mouth scramble type situation is not one of those things. The fact that the ball rebounded to Hourihane was so quick how the hell is Hogan suppose to anticipate and get out the way. Attacking positioning?. Where would you have a striker when the ball is saved by a goalkeeper yet still in the area. I'm not impressed with Hogan but to criticise him for this is totally unjust.

I heard on the way home that Villa had 71% possession. Unfortunately, about 65% of it was between Chester, Terry and Taylor. For about 10 minutes after half-time, we had a proper go at them and should have sewn up the game right there.

The lack of positivity in the first half was atrocious. Why do we insist on passing sideways when there is 10 yards of space ahead. It does my head in. This is totally and utterly down to Bruce telling the players to work the ball left to right or vice versa and get up the wings. Accept it doesn't work !!!.

Guess what Steve?. If you take and progress the ball forward someone has to tackle you. If someone comes to tackle you it means they have left a space. That space can be exploited by us etc etc. The first half against 10 men was worse than Saturday. Leaving yourself 45 mins to win a game is stupid. The misses in the second half should not have and would not have mattered if we showed any shred of ambition in the first half.

When we went down to ten men we actually looked better. There was a bit more tempo and urgency to the game. All the way through though I kept thinking of those words that appeared on the electric board before the game. Passion, Purpose, Power.
Perhaps they don't get to see that message in the dressing room.

Lansbury hasn't done a thing to impress me since signing. For a scoring creative midfielder he's neither scored nor created a thing!

Yep. Funnily enough when Mr slow Lansbury went off.

Bruce referring to "mass hysteria". It's not hysteria, Steve, it's totally fed-up, to the limit and beyond. And no it's not caused by us being a "big club"; it's caused by seeing trash on the field, week after week, poor selections, poor performance.

That really had me questioning why I bother going last night: shit traffic getting there, shit weather walking from the car, and then shit football. To cap it all to big screen is mocking me to sing "Holte Enders in the sky" while the back four tap the ball around to each other. It's beyond depressing.

I was pleased with the Lansbury signing, looked good for forest. Been absolutely wank since he's come to us though, is that because he is wank or is it Bruce stifling him? He seems very slow not just on and off the ball but in his decision making too. When he came on against Norwich our play slowed down after the quick start.

As several others have said, it isn't mass hysteria, it's not seeing an ounce of progression in the year you've been here. In fact, forget about progression because, if anything, we've gone backwards.
Never mind the players being unable to handle playing for a big club, I along with many others have come to the conclusion that it is you, Mr. Bruce, who can't handle the size of the club and the expectations.
Since you have been here, you have built a squad that is so unbalanced its virtually impossible to believe. Insted of sorting out our troubled area's on the pitch, you have concentrated on employing your mates, not good enough.
All we ask as fans Mr. Bruce, is some visible improvement in play. All we ask is for you to give us something to believe in again.
Mr. Bruce, you have failed miserably. My suggestion to you is, save what's left of your reputation and retire.

Even worse is when they play chants over the speakers before kick off

Oh yeah and that as well, haha. I know it's villa chants they're playing over the speakers but it still makes me want to punch whoever thought it was a good idea to do this to the club. Next up they'll be sticking song sheets under everyone's seat before kick off.

Bruce and his coaching staff need to do something about the pace and tempo of attacks. This slow, deliberate square ball game must be a pleasure to defend against. I counted 12 passes in one move where the ball went back and forth across the defence, into a midfielder and then back again. Most of this was across the halfway line and Middlesbrough's defenders had a fairly easy task to move into position to stifle us. Eventually it was punted forward and possession was lost. On very few occasions did this style of play result in an attempt on goal. When 'boro's forward's got the ball they broke forward directly with pace. This was a key reason for Lanbury's lunge and dismissal.
Shift the ball forward quicker and with purpose. Don't give the opposition an easy ride.

Wouold love for us to break forward with pace Ironside. Unfortunately we lack pace apart from Adomah. I didn't realise that Snodgrass was as slow as he is.

Yes sirdennis. The lack of pace in this squad is noticeable.
