Warnock's style of play is not everyone's taste and I don't think it would go down too well with the purists but he certainly gets results. I listened to a Cardiff fan talking about him last night on the radio. Apparently he engages with local clubs and fan groups and has got players, who couldn't previously be arsed to to put the effort in, busting a gut and raising their game and work rate to new levels. I can think of a few of our players who would benefit from that sort of motivation.
The Cardiff fans are more than happy with him.

I've always said that Warnock would be great for us in the position we are in.

He's a Mr Fix It and is very good at sorting out problem clubs.

IMO he would have done a better job than Bruce.

Warnock is flavour of the month now is he ?.

Last season it was Monk, Rowett and Dean Smith. All of whom are clearly tearing up the division at the moment.

Wonder who the next, win a few games, why didn't we appoint him manager will be.
My guess will be Ian Holloway or Mark Warburton.

I have no loyalty to Bruce, just want him to suceed because it means Villa succeed.

But Bruce and Warnock comparison?. No difference. Both have success both have failures on their CV.

Warnock coming into the shit pit that was villa in 2016?. No one can say with any certainty that Warnock would have sorted us out.

Not sure why we are talking about Colin. I hope he will never be manager of Villa.

If Warnock had come in instead of Bruce last season you'd probably now be saying "why the hell didn't we go for Bruce... look at his record in this division"

It's easy to look at the league table and point to the top team and say "why isn't he our manager". No guarantees any manager works out and it's not like Warnock's record is any better than Bruce's, if anything it's worse

And I am not saying Warnock is bad, good or anything. Easiest thing in the world to look elsewhere and say should have, could have, would have.

Add to that the utter state we were in. Has Warnock ever had to go to a club the size of villa, who have been relegated from the premier league for the first time, after years of poor decisions and mis management, with a new owner, new set up, disaffected players and staff, with a massive overhaul needed of a broken club?.

Spot on there Melon. I remember when Owen Coyle was the obvious solution to our problems and Randy was an idiot for not hiring him immediately.

Pulis and Fat Sam are the only managers better than Bruce as they have done it in the top league on small budgets .Pardew may be another
That's where we are , all the rest are fly by nights , one season wonders etc.

Cardiff win a couple of games and all of a sudden that prick becomes the new Matt Busby. Jesus Christ people. He's a thug and he gets his teams to kick and bully their way through games. He might be affable when he's on camera or writing his 'nice-guy' newspaper columns but he's f*cking horrible and would rather snap gifted players' legs than get beat. If that's what it's come to I'd rather follow cricket

Warnock and other favourites of the moment aren't the issue. Which is that Bristol C was the latest of a series of matches which we need to win to avoid being a bottom half Championship perennial. Bruce is paid to get us where we want to be, and he's not doing it. In our last 12 matches we've W2 D5 L5; 11 points from a possible 36. We needed to start this season at a different level; 5 points from a possible 15 is at the exactly the same level.

Bruce carries the can for failing to find a winning formula, rejecting it when he stumbles on it, a sad belief that ageing pros who've done it for him in the past are the way forwards, an inability to properly use younger players who he himself has bought, and constant tinkering with the squad. When a player like Terry finds himself forced into mistakes it tells you something about the setup and dynamics of the team.

Xia has said that September is critical. Does that mean that if results are still poor at the end Bruce will go? I don't know. Xia has been remarkably patient so far. For me Bristol was a must-win match, or at least one where we set out to win; the 3 at the back killed that. The 6 matches in September are all potentially winnable. If we're still floundering after 2 or 3 is there any point in waiting for the end?

MPG - an accurate [although leaning towards the generous] appraisal of the situation. The Bruce article in the Mail just quite frankly says it all and does my head in ... lets sign another guy who I know from the past.
