One thing's for certain. In this game last year we got properly mullered. Whether our squad should give us an automatic right to beat them is another debate (and wrong anyway IMO). A point is not a fantastic cause for celebration, but we didn't fold and that represents an improvement.

Like everyone else I wanted us to be a bit more expansive but understand why Bruce chose to try and make us solid in the circumstances. When it wasn't working, he changed things around, that's a plus. Bruce says that our points total is half what he wanted, and it's good that he's got that ambition and been publicly honest about it.

Let's do something about it in September.

Try sticking a couple of blank lines between quote and post; think that'll cure it.

......................

This was a bad result; 2 points lost. Yes, we should be ambitious, and we should expect the manager to put out a team which convinces on the field from the word go.

Slutsky was appointed to manage Hull in June, a newly relegated team which has shed a number of players. When we were stumbling to a 1-1 draw Hull were crushing Bolton 4-0. That is the standard which any team aiming for promotion has to set. We are way off and it's not the players. Green shoots? We should be seeing a forest.

Was that the death of the three at the back formation?
I sincerely hope so.

If he starts the next game without Davis then he deserves the boot. Onomah and Davis were way good for me. SB is a tinkerer - searching, always searching - question is 'does he even see it when he finds it?' We just hit 8 in 2 games and what does he do ...

I watched the game in our little local in the company of six Bristol City supporters who had come down for the weekend. They said they were surprised at how poor we were.
They said that they thought we would come to Bristol and take the game to them.
As I posted earlier in the week, I didnt think we would take the game to them.
I did however think it was an improvement and told them so.
They said if yesterday was an improvement we must be bad.

My sister has got two tortoises, and they move faster than samba and whelan...terry too!
If you play three at the back you have got to have the right personnel. We have too many other problems all over the place to worry about finding a place for samba. And terry gave the free kick away for the goal and could have given a pen away.
Other than that the positives are we didn't lose, we came back from a goal down, and Onomah scored his first.
We sit 18th in the league after 5 games...hardly the start we were hoping for...

Bruce has bought in enough old men to fill an Old Peoples' Home. In fact The Orchard down the road from us is missing a couple of 'regulars'...just saying....

MAYBE bruce has had a look at wolves, seen how they play 3 at the back and thought "bingo". Well if so he's got it sadly wrong. Wolves back 3 are a tight unit, hardly concede, while their wing backs press with 4 others in midfield, especially in away games. We simply haven't the pace or players to do this. The kids are alright...but too many not-so golden oldies will keep us flying high in, er, mid-table at best!

I don't find anything to celebrate after drawing away to Bristol City who we should be beating if you want to get promoted.

Absolutely, and if we are saying this in what? end of October? then we will be in bother in terms of automatic promotion.

But having been to Reading away even tonight was a world away from that. With Norwich, Wigan and tonight i can see definate improvement, both on the pitch and from the club as a whole. Just feels alot more stable and everything perhaps now going in the right direction.
Need to sort this away form issue though.

I know we did well against norwich and wigan reserves......but notice that Millwall STUFFED mighty Norwich 4-0 today and got a 0-0 at Bristol City last week. Hope we aren't competing with the 'other ' lions...we've got them last match, rememeber!

Another very enjoyable trip only downside trip wise was a 12 hour round trip on the train especially coming back slightly hung over. However game wise very disappointing first half due to this three at the back crap and when Samba went off it took the rest of the first half to reorganise.Second half was more like it apart from the sloppy goal we conceded but after that we always looked the more likely to score. But it was them who almost snatched it at the end.So still a lot of work to be done but with Snodgrass arriving hopefully this will make Bruce more adventurous on our travels otherwise we will still be a championship club next season and Bruce will be on the dole.

Would that be the same Cardiff managed by Neil Warnock, so often refered to on here as an old dinosaur.
