This

He has been afraid to put his "reputation" and future employment in the hands of our youth, prefering to buy in the best in the Championship in January and some aging (even if still useful) pros who "know how to handle the pressure" - SB's words.

We will never trully know why Keinan Davis got the start on Saturday - but a small bit of insight might be gleaned from the conversation at the day/night test match with a fan highlighted in another thread. Perhaps SB is keeping things behind closed doors and won't say things like Gabby is lazy (and useless) and Hutton is a shocking defender and yes some of the purchases I have made haven't worked out because he wants to protect some resale value for the club.

I think SB is seething about a number of issues and can only vent at the media or vile keyboard warriors. We don't know what is going on behind closed doors and some have asked why he won't give McQuarterpounderwithcheeseandbacon another shot, when in reality he doesn't want to play for the club again, just pick up his considerable pay packet.

Hope he sticks with the youthful approach, Jedi covering a back four (with Bree RB) and the rest allowed to play and express themselves (with Davis CF). Anyone else thing Davis and Hogan would be effective and worth a shot?

Yes, worth a shot, mainly because Davis looked MORE than capable (the best I have seen a good while for us) of holding up the ball. Hogan might be able to feed off that, he HAS to have the service, he's not the sort (like Kodjia) to just make goals himself, most strikers aren't.

I don't care if Bruce has found a team by fluke or otherwise, many managers have done the same, stumbled upon something. I will care if he reverses it, but if he takes this forward now, great.

I hope Bruce has now sussed Gabby, I did warn him when we met why some (wasn't talking for all) fans were so angry at Gabby and his attitude. Not saying that I like to be right but, well, I like to be right

Don't know whether he listens to you Mr Fear, but please keep on banging the drum every time you make his acquaintance.

I think I amlike most on here, it is not the results perse, but the performance that has, or has not come with them. There will always be a Cardiff type result over the course of a season, but then not to even compete against Reading is just unforgivable. Hey ho, onwards and upwards

The Holte end at least 3 times on Saturday asked for Brucie give us a wave , each time he obliged . Generally I think the fans are with him. When you get into microcosms on the web and social media perspective is lost.
I like the guy, I want him and us to successfully move forward. The guy needs longer to properly sort this club out root and branch .

Next selection will tell everything but if he cares there's a pattern to our best two performances this year - Colchester and Norwich.

We're good at beating teams from East Anglia?

Give us a wave isn't always a sign of adulation. His upcoming team selections, tactics will determine his fate. He has been responsible for a long period of utter dross. Has he seen the light, we will see.

In all fairness you've got to be a massive bellend to not give a wave when your own supporters ask for one. Heart says he's the one to take us up, head still says that he's gonna be gone by Christmas. I just have this horrible feeling that he got lucky yesterday, but only time will really tell I guess.

I don't care how he found the right combination on Saturday I'm just glad I was there to see it. Other managers have done the same. Bobby Robson finding Platt and switching to a 3 at the back system in 1990, Alf Ramsey's adoption of the wingless wonder system using Ball, Peter's and Hurst in 66 and Ron Saunders deciding that Kenny Swain made a bloody good right back rather than a midfielder spring to mind. I hope he comes up with a few more lucky guesses.

True, anyone who doesnt want him to be successful needs to go do some soul searching in the mirror. If you read his comments and immediately thought he was on about you or the regular fan had the bias confirmed. It is pure confirmation bias but if you read it in context then you'll know he is only on about the same momos who comment on youtube with kids all day.

I am not sure myself whether he is the right man anymore we shouldnt have started so slowly and now he'll be facing an uphill battle for half the season.

Bruce definitely got lucky but he wouldn't be the first manager to stumble into a winning formula. All he has to do now is learn from it and not panic himself into playing the tried and trusted senior players instead of the kids. I hope he can do it i really do, but I'm unconvinced.

Like many on here dearly love to see the guy succeed, but really do need to see if he can now devise a system of play that works home and away. Do not care if he gets there by accident a certain Mr. Ferguson got there the same way but we MUST have a way to cope when Kodjia & Jedinak are missing. Great display by the youngster but do not want to heap to much on those young shoulders to soon if he can keep that level of display though he will very quickly become the talk of the championship. Great to see us win but will need a few more positive results and tactical awareness to convince me we have turned the corner.

It's so difficult for us to look at a game without the claret and blue specs on. We all try our best but ultimately our feelings for whether we played well or not often depend more than we would like to admit on the result.

I have seen an improved style of play from pre-season, less hoof ball and trying to play patterns. It has not yielded a vast improvement in results yet, nor is it fast paced, or exciting to watch (although Saturday was much more promising) . The team may yet grow under Bruce, especially if we can be more clinical - I think there were 9 guilt edged chances on Saturday of which 4 went in. Don't really care if we boss possession as long as the oppositions possession is knocking it around at the back. We still have worrying spells under Bruce and the result is we concede too easily, which obviously ramps the pressure up.

Can see the argument to replace Bruce (as I wasn't one of those who wanted him in the first place), but can also see the requirement for a stable management structure. Hopefully we are developing one along the lines of a Southampton/Watford type model where it doesn't seem to matter whether we change manager. This would be the ultimate for me and the next guy can just pick up the reigns, deliver the training and keep the results rolling in. We are a long way off that at the moment in my view, but I want us to win the next two convincingly before the international break to retain any confidence in SB.
