Just shows how differently people see things. With Onomah and Davies in the team and with the shackles off there is hope.

Good result glad to see Davis get his first for us. Been here before (after the Norwich game) so wont be getting carried away any time soon. Can I Just make the point that ALL of us would be delighted if Bruce succeeds no Villa fan wants a Villa manager to fail even those who do not like him. I hope we do not lose another game till the end of the season and we go up with record points and goals, but I wont be making any judgement based on this result on its own, Bruce can try and deflect his critics with talk of hysteria but quite simply he is a football manager and he stays in a job based on results. If it was based on displays then he would be gone based on Cardiff and Brentford and could stay based on Norwich & Barnsley, the next couple of league games should give us a good guide as to how he is doing over all.

Tom Ross tweeted over the weekend that Bruce is 1 defeat away from the sack having spoke to sources at the club. He deleted his tweet a couple of minutes later. I suppose if we do lose on Saturday there will be some good news to come from it hopefully.

Good news?

What, the club failing again and looking like a laughing stock again. Looking no better than the blues and their managerial clusters. No obvious replacement and a good way into the season and looking down the barrel of failure again. I don't think it's very good news.

Yep, the Boro thread seems to have a few gremlins. One way to dampen down hysteria

The match won't affect Bruce's future. The next three matches may. He has to build on the Barnsley result.

Tonight didn't show how weak the squad is, more that it shows it's not strong enough to field two distinct teams. But very few clubs are able to do that, or wish to.

You're quite correct, but it shows me that the squad as a whole is nowhere near as good as many seem to think.

Those who played tonight are the back up to our supposed 'first team'. Said 'first team' may or may not be good enough to get promoted. But when injuries and suspensions bite, the replacements do not inspire me with much confidence.

September 26: Burton Albion (a), 7:45pm

September 30: Bolton Wanderers (h), 3pm

No more excuses, no more muddled tactics and no more sweeping generalisations from the manager about fans displaying " hysteria"

Apart from the few Twitter trolls - criticism has generally been constructive so yet again it is poor judgment from SB to make such sweeping statements about fans using public platforms to show their displeasure.

Provided I keep my criticism sensible and constructive then I won't be censored by him or anyone else that's objects to my opinion even if it upsets some delectate souls

The ‘hysteria’ comments are gonna come back to bite him on the bum in the same way the ‘fickle’ comments did to o’leary. He’s said himself it’s the biggest job he’s ever had so he has to deal with all that comes with it. Would he rather be back with a small club like blues where there’s no expectation/pressure and the fans are just generally apathetic about everything? Attendances like last night are also the norm there

The Forest game kicks off at 5.30pm actually, but apart from that...

So it's all doom & gloom again then after 1 defeat for the reserve side?

Get a grip people.

Last night was no more than a friendly to give some minutes to a few fringe players. We were never going to win the cup, and none of the players who started will be playing on Saturday.

Yes a cup run would have been nice, but to get all down and angry coz the reserves lost is just a bit OTT in my opinion.

My own criticism is nothing to do with last night - It's all about the winnable, upcoming games which I highlighted in my post.

As much as I want SB to be successful I can't change the way I think about him and have done before he was given the Villa job.

It's up to him to change my mind and frankly after 12 months of a muddled mess from him, Calderwood & Clemence - with no real signs of improvement it's basically shit or bust with these 3 forthcoming games. Likewise, I can't or won't get carried away with one good win in the last 5 games. It's all about consistency in this or any other league and I'm still waiting for SB & Co to deliver.

As I have also been saying for the last 12 months it's now over to you Steve but surely you can't keep on saying that!?
