If anything, his comment about us expecting too much annoyed me even more than the game.

Ah, the old "the fans expect too much/expectations are unrealistic" line.

The last refuge of a manager on borrowed time. It's done for plenty of better managers than Bruce....

Good bit of bantz from last night to lighten the mood.

Reading fans were giving Terry stick.

Villa fans: He's won more than you, he's won more than you, John Terry he's won more than you.

he's completely wrong anyway. We don't expect too much.

Every Villa fan I've spoken to, to a man couldn't understand why we were favouroites to win the league. None of us expected to do so.

I think general concensus was if we can scrape into the playoffs we'll have done ok.

What isn't acceptable is to be humbled and humilated by Cardiff and Reading. That's not expecting too much, it's the bare minimum requirement!

One Guy commenting in the Guardian didn't mince his words.

Bruce should have been sacked in May. He's tactically clueless, unable to motivate his players and has failed to instil any semblance of a style of play. He's wasted millions on players that he has no idea how to use. He spent the summer courting John Terry, who's not only a loathsome fanny but a fanny who plays in the one position that didn't need attention, and in doing so he's stripped Chester of the captaincy which has affected his form, weakening our defence - so he's somehow managed to spend millions in the summer to make us worse. He's allowed arseholes like Agbonlahor and Richards back into the fold, which is a kick in the teeth to the fans who watched them strolling their way through our relegation season without a care in the world, and he's said that Alan Hutton "picks himself". Alan fecking Hutton. The football is shit, the results are shit, Bruce has got more chance of winning a modelling contract than he has of leading Villa to promotion this season. He is a footballing dinosaur, I don't care what he's done in the past, he clearly, evidently, demonstrably can't do it any more. Worse still he's delusional, he's adopted Paul Bullshit Lambert's habit of treating the fans like fecking idiots with post-match comments that bear no resemblance to the match that we all just saw. We didn't deserve to lose to Reading, Steve? We fecking did, you pillock. We were shite, as we always are. We set out not to lose (not to win, there's a big difference) and we lost. 2-1 flattered us, massively. Bollocks, Steve. Utter horse shit. Four thousand fans traveled to watch that shambles tonight. They deserve so much better. To all Bruce's pundit mates who'll stick up for him and call Villa fans impatient for wanting him out now, this isn't just three matches. It's forty odd now. A full season's worth. And not one complete ninety minutes of competence. We can name a couple of random halves where we looked good. In a year. Millions spent. Millions. Bugger off Steve.

@Fulford - nice one. One thing - your Location? Is Steve Bruce one of the local residents?

I suppose its easy to look at Wolves and think how come they appear to have got it so right after years of getting it wrong. Last season they got rid of first zenga after a mini splurge on unsuitable players (barring costa) and then our own ex 'fave' Lambert, who was as clueless there as he was at VP. Then they appoint Nunes Santos in the summer, spend serious cash on players he wants and knows, and suddenly hey presto they look everything we don't.
So does this mean we just haven't found the right man yet? Possibly...but changing horses mid-stream is a risk that I don't see Xia taking unless Bruce gets us stuck in the relegation dogfight by November.
Truth is, 8 months on and a lot of serious money spent, we still look rubbish, still haven't an identity, and look nearer to going out of this division at the wrong end.....

The story that holtelower paints of his reading 'experience' should be plastered all around the VP home dressing room for saturday. Sadly half of them probably don't care and the other half can't read!!
BRUCE MADE 4 CHANGES LAST NIGHT..HE COULD HAVE MADE 14..fact is the result would have been the same. TO THINK THIS GUY GOT 4 PROMOTIONS....HOW???

PS....at half timr reading had had 77% of the possession....and that was up to nil nil.

I see Bruce is beginning to get desperate. He's now saying the fans expected too much as Terry signed for us.

Is he totally off his trolley or what?

That could be the turning point to be honest.

Xia - promotion.
Wyness - promotion.
Bruce - promotion.
Terry signing was for promotion.

And 'we' expected too much? That's the fricking stated aim and has been all summer long.

Fans didn't set that expectation the club have fed it.

Gold plate this post and put it up in lights.

He's a clown, I most certainly expect not to be played off the pitch by footballing giants Cardiff city and reading, should I lower them?

Our social media posts videos of us beating these clubs in 2004 as though we're some kind of minnow reminiscing over a glorious result back in the day. It's embarrassing, even if we get out of this league we'll get beat week in week out by the next lot... Sc**thorpe and Fleetwood
