We need a manager who is not from these shores. One that we know little about - they seem to be all the rage now, ask Huddersfield Town, Watford, Hull City etc.

Someone with some modern thinking and coaching ability.

I am short of names though....

Everytime i turn on the tv and watch football whether EFL or premier league i see teams moving the ball quickly and players playing with tempo and pace, running forward taking the game to the opposition and i think to myself how we just do not play like that.

Yeah I've thought this for a couple of seasons now. We just play like it's a testimonial. No movement, no urgency, no zipping around. It's so slow and pedestrian.

When we have the ball, we have to do more, and do it quicker. And when we don't have the ball, we have to work harder (and faster). It's all just jogging around, no impetus, no bite anywhere.

Watching a testimonial would be a welcome relief but that isn't going to happen again as football has gone mad. That said, the way Bruce has Villa 'playing' is just painful, they can't pass forward, they can't do anything, Bruce *** *** ** ****, take your cronies with you. It just hurts my eyes to watch the Bruce style of football. Dr Xia - when will get rid of the old guard players, the Huttons, Agbonlahors,Richards etc ..... can't you see what it is doing? Bruce signing the likes of Terry/Samba may be seen by some as a coup, but it is papering over the cracks, it is him reverting to type, i.e. the past. Whelan, Jedinak, Terry, Samba .... I am sure he has even tried to see how Gary Pallister is. FFS the man has to go.

Gabby and the like will do for Bruce unless he wakes up quickly. I now despise him wearing the colours of our once great club. Thankfully i doubt Dr T is a man of patience.

I can imagine Dr X crosses the line quite often talking to Bruce about players and selection, given some of his tweets about departing players.

Not something I'm usually a fan of but if the chairman sees more of what's going on on the pitch then at the moment I'll take it

Bruce so far has failed to deliver. He did a good job at his last club so he can't have lost all of his managerial ability overnight, but somehow it looks like it. There is something fundamentally wrong with the club and I think it will take a lot of time to fix.

As for Bruce specifically he's bought some mediocre players to the club, and now we apparently don't have any remaining funds to improve things. I think the responsibility for that has to fall partly on Bruce (and RDM) for crap signings, and the board for permitting reckless spending.

The style of play also seems a bit "old-hat", just hard workers and grafting , no passing creativity or technical skill which I think is required even at this level these days.

No wins from next two then a decision will have to be made

Win and a draw from the next two games minimum in my opinion.

Reality is though that one win from the next two will buy him some time.

Through my 35 years of supporting, living and breathing villa you gain a certain instinct and feel for things After yesterday my instinct is this has very much the feel of the RDM, Sherwood days where they were not going to or be capable of turning things around.

Cannot believe we are here AGAIN.

Well actually I can. I get withdrawal symptoms if we don't have a managerial circus every few months.

My big big worry is who the hell is going to come in and get goals out of Hogan, get Lansbury to not look like a show pony twat, make Hourihane not look like the league one player he is. Who is going to come in and not play Gabby , Hutton or get fat boy Ross to sort his life out.

It's a frigging mess again. Unbelievable Jeff.

Because of the last 10 months Bruce, Calderwood, and Clemence are going to lose their jobs through making the same mistakes week in and week out. Therefore I don't have any sympathy for them because it's their own fault.

They are tactically clueless with the main culprit, of course, Bruce They are unable to motivate a squad of players and collectively they allow them to amble around the pitch like someone said before in a testimonial game.
Because of the size of the club in this poxy league, in every single game we play we have a big arrow pointing at the back of our player's shirts and everyone wants to beat us. Steve Bruce as a manager and some of the players but particularly Bruce can't cope with it.

Instead, we should be attacking them with arrogance and no mercy because that's the way out of this league.

Exactly the same mistakes happened to Bruce at Sunderland....In fact the similarities are frightening https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2011/nov/30/steve-bruce-su...

Here are some observations from the article - "Arguably one of the principal reasons Bruce is no longer in charge at the Stadium of Light concerns his apparent inability to tweak formations or tactics during matches. Whenever a rival manager re-configured his system mid-game, Bruce invariably failed to come up with a countermeasure."

"If he failed to cut it as a tactician, the 50-year-old did not seem much of a strategist either. Including loans, 30 players were signed – several of whom have subsequently been moved on – during Bruce's two-and-a-half years on Wearside. That represents an unsettling "churn" factor and hardly proved conducive to developing either a clear playing philosophy or strong team spirit."

"Always rather amorphous, if not downright scrappy, Sunderland's high-tempo style lacked creativity, not to mention control, in central midfield. Unable to dictate play, the team frequently failed to press home early advantages."

And so the article goes and sadly, it all sounds rather familiar doesn't it?

Of course, If something isn't working you look to fix it. Sticking your head in the sand hoping and waiting for it to fix itself is simply foolish and arguably even more of a risk.

Listening to Bruce of-late he sounds so defeatist like a man who knows what is coming soon anyway so do it now rather than all this talk of giving him another 10 games then it gives us more of a chance to go up THIS season?

Eight wins in the last twenty-six games deserves the sack in my book and this level of this incompetence wouldn't be accepted anywhere else in a working environment so why should we have to put up with it.

The silence from Dr Xia is deafening and unusual.

If i was Mister Bruce, i would be a bit concerned about the silence?

Bruce should of been a short term appointment to settle the ship. Without doubt he should have been replaced at the end of the season.

It maybe a knee jerk but it's looking likely that we will have to move to selling more players and reducing costs/wages to comply with FFP, something Wyness talked about if we stayed in the championship.

The problem we have is that whenever Bruce starts to come under pressure he gets a draw and a win or something and all of a sudden he's safe again. It's the same old pattern and it will keep us stuck in the mud if we keep him. It wouldn't surprise me if we get a couple of decent results in the next couple of games and then it will go wrong again. Round and around we go.

TBH I just can't see where a result is coming from at the moment unless he totally changes things.

Nothing would make me happier than him getting a few good results on the trot.

Are we really about to become the next Leeds, Forest or Wednesday.

I really do worry about how long before Xia and his backers will get bored and dump us in to oblivion.

I think we are well on our way to becoming the next Portsmouth, wishing we were the next Leeds/Forest.

I don't believe Xia will fall into the trap of thinking a scrappy win or two will change anything.
