And who bought him?

To be fair, the same guy who managed to get JT in.

Thing is that deal was rather different - hardly going to be telling JT where to play is he! Hardly a risk, a coup maybe but not a risk and absolutely no chance of SB trying to get JT playing as wing back if you get my drift. Also it wasn't done in the sun on a nice golf course, in fact there is NO valid comparison.

No, sorry I don't get your drift.
Maybe I misunderstood your 'and who signed him' post. I took it as as a usual dig at Bruce as you clearly don't like him or want him as manager which of course you are entitled to feel.

I was merely saying that if Bruce showed poor judgement and is criticised for signing Hourihane then his judgement and ability to get JT to sign should be praised.

Like i have said in posts before, no problem with criticism of Bruce but some are so obsessed with knocking the bloke they are unable to balance an argument out with any slight praise of him for any good he has done. And in my opinion he has done some good things since coming in.

More great history from Erod, thanks. Well before all of our times I should think. All this academy talk is usually just followed by the output being loaned out to smaller clubs to get experience, a damning indictment of the whole structure. What was wrong with the youth team, the reserves and the first team. Anyone remember the massive home crowds in 71/2 for the games against the noses and then Liverpool - just awesome. Would never ever happen these days.

Yes I do 67. What an exceptional youth team that was.Saw every game that season, an avid fan of our youth team at that time. And you are correct it wouldnt happen now, different era.

Don't normally do this. Haven't before but I am going to stick my neck out and say that
Conor Hourihane will NOT cut it at Villa. He is not good enough.

Get rid.

You get some right twats on this forum

(But, i was right about playing a big man up top).

There's a reason one of the random quotes is me admitting I'm a cock. We all have our moments lol

In fairness he was useless in this game, completely anonymous in every way. Good to see he's stepping up a bit now though.
