Well until Kodjia is fit , it looks like he is going to get a lot of game time.

Agbonlahor has been an embarrassment for years. It was Bruce's decision to bring him back, only time will tell if it was a mistake or not. As for Hogan, Bruce was happy for the club to pay £12m for him so it's up to Bruce to make it work.

well the article does say:
'Bruce warned....Gabby Agbonlahor in particular, to step up to the plate'

not something that is in doubt surely.

just play some youngsters instead of this fat sack but I think we'll see lots of the big man even when Codger is back (well if Bruce is still there)

Just as Bruce says he needs players that can handle a club as big as Villa , I think he might be out of his depth here too , He may have played for a big club , but he's never managed one .
It does worry me that he relied on Flabby when Koj was away in January and it failed big time , now it looks as though he's learnt nothing and is about to cost us any chance of the flying start we need .

As far as the fans go, I think the thought is pretty unanimous.
FOR THE STRIKERS TO SCORE, THE MIDFIELD HAVE TO CREATE THE CHANCES.
It's pretty unanimous as well, that as a striker, Gabby couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.
The only thing Gabby's ever had that frightened defenders, was pace. He's never been blessed with ability with the ball and the frightening pace has been left on the pieshop floor.
Have a go at the midfield Mr. Bruce.

Agree entirely 1958. I would just add that RHM is the future, and Gabby is way back in the past.
I would much rather see one of the kids given a run because Gabby will offer nothing and yes I know its big step up for the youngsters and its an important season but Gabby has shit on this club and it speaks volumes about SB s mind set that he looks to stake the good start we need on someone who has not delivered in years.

He's had all summer to buy one that works , bit late now to be bleating about it. All we have needed to improve the team is a proper striker and a forward looking midfield player with some guile and he bought neither.

Oscararc, we already have a proper striker in Hogan, or have you not been watching the runs he makes?
The only time he was supplied with decent passes, he scored, twice, in Germany.
What everyone who's watched Villa play knows is that we don't have a midfield that creates for our strikers, no matter who they are.

This would not surprise me one bit.

I back Bruce overall . And I will do this season.

But I cannot agree with this persistance with Gabby. The stats and facts over the past few years show it's completely wrong to. The odd goal v Blues nowhere near enough. That was more a comedy moment than anything.

Assuming we don't sell Ross Mc , is he likely to be on the bench this weekend ?

Such a good point made earlier that Bruce had played for a big club but never managed one. He is scared deep down and he doesn't seem prepared to give the younger guys a chance. It amazes me that there are still plenty of people on other platforms who supposedly support Agbonlahor [perhaps SB has many aliases]. Even if Agbonlahor breaks his all time record of 13 league goals [ha ha ha] I will still be livid as he shouldn't be anywhere a Villa team and is blocking the youth we have that SB hasn't got faith in because he like so many have a fear of losing.

Get real. Gabby is here for another year. What does Bruce do? Consign him to the bomb squad, where he will consume resources and offer nothing whatsoever, or try to get a positive contribution out of him?

Bruce has made a cold calculation to do the latter. In pre-season it seems to be working; Gabby looks committed, fit and lively, and has kept defences on their toes. Given our currently limited resources to invest up front, probably the right move.

Bruce is forgetting one thing here, our strikers feed off scraps not chances.

Watching the women's ladies team last night reminded me of us, scrappy and dogged but lacking ability or a plan of how to play collectively.
