What concerns me is that he name drops Agbonlahor first, i read that as he'll be playing ahead of Hogan or any other striker until Kodjia is back.

Anybody who picks pieman and expects him to score loads of goals is not worthy. Fact. What planet is SB on?

Don't know what else he can say. Yes, we can score goals from other players. But if we're to get the goals we need the bulk have to come from the strikers. And at the moment the only two senior strikers who're fit are Hogan and Gabby. He probably mentioned Gabby first because he's probably the one he's least confident of. From the way he played in Germany I think Hogan looks promising, fast and keen as mustard; given the service he will score goals.

The two big questions are, can the team produce the chances at the front, and can the forwards take advantage of them? We won't know until we see the matches for real.

I'd have Davis and RHM on the bench, just in case.

I would give RHM the six games to prove himself. I can't see any point in playing Gabby.

You create the chances for the strikers. Fatso will hang bruce if he perseveres with him.

The tidy finishes which Hogan made in those pre season games would have ended up straight at the goalkeeper if Gabby were the one doing 'em. Bruce would be an absolute fool to opt for Gabby over him.

As far as the fans go, I think the thought is pretty unanimous.
FOR THE STRIKERS TO SCORE, THE MIDFIELD HAVE TO CREATE THE CHANCES.
It's pretty unanimous as well, that as a striker, Gabby couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.
The only thing Gabby's ever had that frightened defenders, was pace. He's never been blessed with ability with the ball and the frightening pace has been left on the pieshop floor.
Have a go at the midfield Mr. Bruce.

I think that Hogan will deliver this season. He has had time to settle and get over the niggling injuries and should now step up to the plate. Green and Elmo will be providers as well as contributing a few with possibly Audrey as a number 10 to pick up a few too. Obviously when Kodjia is back, then there will be a reshuffle but hopefully by then, Bruce will have the headache of who to drop.

Hourihane and Landsbury (until Jedi is fit) will have to do the business in midfield.

The defence picks itself more or less and goals conceded will be minimal.

I see a good season ahead - and a few kids coming through for the future.

On a different note, my 7 year old grandson has finally decided that Villa will be his team!! His dad is a Bin Dipper and his best mate at school is a Derby fan. Without any cajoling from me (well minimal!!) he has now nailed his claret and blue colours to the mast and wants to visit the 'home of football'

The emergence of Gabby? God help us. Emergence from what, a pipe or cigarette smoke filled haze. Look at his scoring record Steve ffs.

I agree, as said in another thread with Jack out we might as well go 2 up top.

Say what you like about Gabby but when he's up for it he does cause chaos and confusion amongst defences with his pace and the fact that even he doesn't know what he's doing half the time.... Hogan is the ideal man to pick up the scraps from that.

If Steve Bruce insists on playing Agbonlahor expecting him to win us games on a consistent basis then he is ensuring his own sacking after 10ish games.

I can see it, most of you can see it so if Bruce can't see it then he will deserve to be released.

If Bruce persists with playing the ball up to a lone striker like Agbonlahor then God help us as he has the touch and control of an elephant.

Until Kodjia returns back fully fit to the first team then a system and pattern of play to supply and support Hogan and RHM etc must be put in place to see us score goals otherwise?.......Well, you only have to look at how he set us up last season and the embarrassing lack of goals to see the answer to that. if he does continue with Agbonlahor then he will need a striking partner like Hogan etc

Come on Steve, it's hardly rocket science and we want you to succeed at the Villa.

EDIT: On reflection, if it was down to me I'd have moved heaven and earth to have shipped Agbonlahor out of the club after the disgraceful way he went on sticking 2 fingers up to the club and Villa fans.

The only thing I can think of is that Agbonlahor looks like Ronaldo at Bodymoor. Either that or He's threatened to impregnate the coaching staffs' daughters.

Who'd want him as a son-in-law?
