This window was all about addressing a lack of creativity in the midfield . Elmo looks decent , whelan can clearly ping balls about (to a degree) but we need a playmaker in the team very badly

Hate to bring up his name but seems we are missing someone like Delph that would dribble past a defender, then make a pass. Our current midfielders rarely successfully beat someone off the dribble. They; pass up, pass back, pass out wide, pass back to defender, pass goalie, start again.

Defenders are able to lay off of our Mid's and want to snag a pass or for us to turn it over.

I don't think an attacking playmaker is a type of player Bruce would sign - He is more interested in "hard workers", like Whelan and Elmohamady than technically skilled players.

Yes David but, its about having a balance between the two types, not overloading on one particular sort.
With the defence and holding midfield we now have, we can play a creative central midfielder, in fact we need to, to get a return on the strikers we've spent £40+ million on.

I think we need more creative flair, that's for sure, but Bruce serves up pretty mundane football. It's no surprise our only attacking signing so far is Elmohamady who is the type of player who will run up and down the flank all day long but probably isn't going to provide any moments of technical brilliance.

Cat in hells chance of getting a playmaker in. We've been crying out for one for years, what makes you think this window will be any different to all the rest?

Go and look at Scott Hogans goals for Brentford, not one scored outside the box. Why did we spend £12m on a striker if we're not going to supply him?

Hopefully, at least with Elmo now in the team we can create chances from the right wing (both wings if Green can deliver) and Hogan will put some away.

The likes of Lansbury and Hourihane should be creating chances. What else are they there for?

I genuinely think Bruce sees Lansbury and Hourihane as the creativity.

This could lead to Bruce's ultimate demise as manager.

Can't say enough how disappointed i am in what I have seen from Hourihane. I thought Westwood would take some beating in terms of what he offered (Or not as the case is ) to the team. Hourihane is just a complete non entity.

He does and rightly so, they are creative and were doing it for their previous clubs. Hourihane was scoring goals and was the highest assisting player

You have to give the lad a chance, came in in January, if hes as bad this season then you can judge him, went from being one of the best in the championship to us, hes not just gone shit overnight, just has to be given a chance and allowed to settle!

Personally dont think pritchard is the answer, cant just keep signing who ever is playing the best in the league at the time and then disregarding them or saying they are awful after just a handful of games

Our team is the best in the division and we made the best signings(no other club is close) , support the manager and the team. Save some money for if we do get promoted when we can actually attract premier league players

Ask yourself would you trade our squad for any other in the league ?

When the lineup was announced against Watford i looked at the team and if someone said to me i had to pick one player to bet my house on scoring it would have been John Terry. what does that say about the rest of team or is that just me. We were the 4th lowest scores last season not because we have bad strikers its we have nobody to pick them out when they find good positions and for those hoping Landsbury & Hourihane are going to come good i hope you are right its just the kids in preseason games showed them up mabe the kids are the way to go its just alot to ask of them. This is a massive season and i don't think we have fixed our short comings from last season.

Seems like everyone has written off the season before it has started. The squad looks fine, we have goal scorers, we have creativity, don't fret so much.

Bruce always has and always will set his stall out as "difficult to beat". It may not be the most attractive football but it will be very effective. Despite the points gap between us and the top 6, we were never overrun by any of them (and let's face it, we were poor last year). What I have seen in pre-season is light years from the hoof ball we served up last year, and inviting pressure by coughing up the ball at every opportunity. By no means am I suggesting that we will walk the league, but I think there is the potential for goals from a number of areas, including set pieces.

Have been really surprised by Bruce's signings and how well they have slotted in. He definitely has one more surprise for us before the end of the window, so let's all enjoy the fact that the football season is upon us once again and wait to see how the team functions rather than slating individuals before a kick in anger has even been taken. Very interested to see who replaces Grealish and whether Hogan starts in place of Agoalayear.

I understand that Gabby has a function in the squad and can get under the skin of any opposition, but for me the function of a striker is to score goals and he missed a couple of sitters v Watford. We have creativity in Doyle-Hayes, just hopes he gets the opportunity now that the defence appears to be sorted.

The team showed enough on Saturday whilst Grealish was on that they can create chances , the key is having a creative player in the No. 10 role. When Grealish went off Lansbury pushed further up but he wasn't as effective .

The solidity is there to afford a luxury player there and if we don't sign anyone and Grealish is out for a while then I would gamble and give Hayes a go.

Wouldnt mind seeing Hayes being given a go, I'd say from Bruces perspective its highly unlikely for this weekend anyway

Hourihane, needs to be given a chance in his best position. That is in my opinion in the centre of a midfield / attacking 3 in a 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 formation.
Say
Johnstone
Hutton Chester Terry Taylor
Whelan / Jedi / Lansbury ( 2 from 3 )
Elmo Hourihane Green
Hogan
