Like me many of us on here remember the days of the 70's and 80's when it was normal for a punch up to take place before and after a game.

Here is a gallery of some of the key figures who were behind such violence, including one of our own.

I'd not go out of my way to argue with them, that's a fact.

Danny is a top guy btw.

I remember running a feature on it and someone had a mighty go at me for 'promoting' violence.

I'd done no such thing, I'd promoted a book about the culture back in the day!

Had some hairy moments at away games back in the day , that's for sure.

It was bad back in the 70's and 80's and glad it's better now.

Very hairy experiences back in the seventies, the worst physically were at Forest one evening after the game and then in the Serpentine car park after a game against Manure ... Jesus I still have flashbacks about those.
Many close calls away at places like Cardiff, Bristol City, Wolves away midweek was a pain to make the station after the game.
By far the worst experience ever was Millwall away on 01April1975 ... a Tuesday evening at The Den with almost no Villa there, somehow surviving the game and requiring walking past New Cross station after the game. Nightmares about the whole experience.
Oh and don't get on board a train in the eighties from London Euston that is jam packed with Juve fans either

Going away used to be very scary .
Some ex lads tell it like it was and some like that one eyed prick are just bullys.

Chatting to a nose once about how they went to leeds and did them . Ive been going to visit the brother in law there for the last 20 years and he lives in the posh bit but believe me nobody takes the piss with them .
Noses never lost a battle , fucking rats who are only hard when they have the numbers.

I was at Leicester 86/87 sir Graham days , got off the old inter city with about 50 villa early doors thought we were going filbert street , we were but on a detour past their main pub which got an early awakening. Seemed to be the norm back then

The F.A.Cup quarter final at West Ham in 1979 was by far the worst I have ever seen .Luton was nasty as well and as Silhill says trips to the old Victoria ground v Stoke were a bit tasty.

Just goes to show, be in the wrong place at the wrong time and bob's your uncle, you either make it or you don't. If you look for trouble you will find it, but equally it can find you even if you don't.

not so fat anymore and never a loser

Had some scrapes v wolves and stoke in the early 80's..went to Blues for the Derby after Ron Saunders had joined them....I have to say I tried to avoid the potential danger areas but you sometimes couldn't.

worst i saw was when I was working in Blackpool some of my mates invited me to an away game against Bury........they weren't there for the football that is for sure.

When I moved to London i used to go to Highbury with my mate and again had some issues particularly involving Chelsea.

i have to say I prefer attending games now , maybe an age thing but really the thought of getting twatted as you go to a game doesn't really appeal

Used to laff at the way tv made out Liverpool and Everton were welcoming grounds. Had some right punch ups at both places and that was in the feckin ground as well. One particular F.A. cup tie at goodison in the eighties we got up there on a football special
and found out there was only 300 villa fans making the trip we lost 3-0 and got slaughtered afterwards
we had a line of at least 6 cops keeping us apart from the 6000 Everton fans down that end and we spent the game dodging bricks bottles coins etc and folk want to bring back standing lol.
