so let's trust Bruce's judgment on the new players .

To be honest ,it's his judgement on the old players that I'm beginning to worry about :3:

Hang on, he's been here 3 months , he gave everyone a clean slate . So far he has bombed out Gestede and told bunn and Hutton they are leaving this summer , we have a diabolical squad and Bruce is going to give it a full makeover. This is a 2 year project just to sort the personnel out . Support the man he's a top manager .

I don't get all the negativity! We need a better keeper that's a fact and we have a buy option in the summer for £2m . Potentially this is a great bit of business

Is that true? Officially?

If so that's a completely different story. Just ain't got time for loans with no buy option.

Both gollini and bunn have had their chances and repeatedly blown them with basic howlers . I think this new keeper will be a step up on the former two . You don't stay at Yanited that long if you are crap

Can't say I've ever seen him play in his various loan deals so no idea if this inexperienced keeper is better or worse than ours.
Doesn't get on the bench at manure and some 20 yo lad is now 3rd choice - maybe he just needs a willing club to let him gain experience so he's able to challenge for that 2nd/3rd spot ?

still we'll see and as in the flabby thread Bruce ultimately will pay the price if he's got it wrong.

Yanited have the Argentina national keeper on the bench behind De Gea so chances for Johnston would be minimal , moanihnhio is a bit like MON like that .
Let's give the guy a chance , he's 23 and prime to break through now

Some have said about your club being another Hull City, but he was our best ever manager and did it on relatively low budget.
Yes he uses his contacts within the Man U scouting and junior squads to get his hands on young players that have guts and determination, things that your current croo of players do not have.
Another positive is that you are not buying a player unless he fits into a team, you can hand him back (thinking of gabby - who is a liability for 18 months or so)!

Good points there alanalleycat. And our condolences for Monday. You know everyone on here was hoping your tigers would hold on for the win.

Thank you Vatgr,

One thing is certain, Bruce will try his hardest to build a team that will get you back to the promised land, and form the backbone of a young team to keep you there!

Time and a little money plus your support is all he needs!

i am hoping the Brum Mail quotes are right. We need a keeper with confidence and I don't mind a bit of swagger.

Gollini maybe hasn't settled. He's young, in a different country and has not done particularly well (not done slatingly bad either) ...... these things happen.

If so, bringing Sam in makes perfect sense. I do think we could do with an experienced keeper but Bruce has fantastic contacts at United and maybe he's been convinced.

Great if so. I do so hope there is a buy clause.

It's a shame for Gollini as he has potential, most certainly a lot of development needed but he's not the first foreign keeper to come to England and struggle to settle.

Bunn is not the answer, great guy but just not good or tall enough.

As with other posters, I don't see the point of this. I'd accept a loanee who could come in and command a place straight away but this feels like we are helping to both prove and develop a player for another club. Unless on the off chance he comes in and is a world beater, it feels like a big risk for little reward

Bruce does not take risks or off-chances, the problem as I see it is that you have 3-4 decent players, and I guess 10 no-hopers then the 2nd string!

He needs to shore up the team in the right way knowing the rewards of promotion will enable him to build for the future - think Stoke and their steady progress.

The players that Bruce wanted for Hull was £12m, the two strikers scored 30 goals last season between them! Both are scoribg well in the Premiership. Okay two players do not make a team, but other players were already in place, goals were lacking!

I think it's a great stop gap signing with hopeful potential.

A few things on it all.

- Bruce is the first to point out Gollini's age. Which I see as saying he's a 21 young man who's never left home for this long and is finding it hard to adapt to the rougher edges of the Championship. Understandable. Being the lack of Italian influence in our team, I'm sure he's missing a lot of the only culture he knows.

- There is zero competition. The only way Mark Bunn can stop anything is if it hits him. And even then it's a 50/50 .

- Any Man Utd player they don't want to let go of is certainly better than our rubbish. De Gea wouldn't be hanging out with him if he didn't rate him enough. Yeah they're team mates but you're never friends with the shit workers.

- He's English and gets it at Championship level.

For the budget Bruce is working with I think it's a great signing.

How many great goalkeepers are there for the taking? In the summer our outlook will be different to now and giving ourselves till then to figure it out seems to make a lot of sense. (If we're in the Prem (somehow) then players like Begovic aren't crazy. But if we're not, maybe Shay Given can come back??).

I'm excited to see him play. Keep them coming Bruce!

I was joking.

I categorically do not agree with giving Gabby another chance.

Johnstone? Meh. Whatever. As long as he's better than Guzan, we're improving.

Obviously my sarcastic sense of humour doesn't translate well in a forum situation.

*EDIT: I would also like to remind you that I realise the size of the task at hand, and I have said from day one I don't think we'll go up this season.
