can't understand the loan of sam johnstone from manure. is that really our best use of money? he can't be any better than what we have or man u wouldn't have agreed a deal. i don't want bruce turning us into another hull city - full of man u youngsters unproven at this level. man u get their player some first team experience and we pay them for the privelidge. not convinced on this at all. xia tweeted 2 or 3 buys ongoing - hopefully decent players who will improve us.

Gollini and Bunn are awful. He has it all to do and earn a deal. Good terms for Villa I recon

Firstly. The good..

He isnt unproven, he has played plenty of games on loan, one of those being a successful spell with our competitors, so i have no worries over tgat.

However, unless

A. Its with an option to buy

B. Gollini is leaving

C. Bruce has a more experienced goalie lined up but cant get him til tge summer.

I really dont see the point. We are just blocking Gollinis development. Surely, we are not going diwn, we are not going up, so we may as well use this season to gel rge basis of next season.

I cant see Man U letting Johnson go, so can only summise Gollini is.

Gollini is off I'm sure. The bags under his eyes in that Leeds away game told a story of unhappiness

the 'Good' stretches it a bit - championship experience is a total of 23 games over many loans
Gollini has managed 20 (+ 30 Serie A)

hugely discouraging first Bruce transfer tbh

Don't really see the point.

Is he that much better than Gollini?

We'll have to see..

Yes they are, and Jed Steer can't be much cop if he is still overlooked - but is a young unproven keeper the way forward? If he turns out to be a decent player then will we have an option to buy at the end of the season? Surely there are experienced keepers out there who might cost us maybe £3m but at least he would then be our player.

Also struggling to see the logic behind the Johnstone loan deal. The lad is only 23 himself so just as likely to make errors as Gollini.

Would have been happy to bag a solid keeper with experience to be a calming presence behind the defence but see no point in giving game time to a young keeper from Utd at the expense of a young keeper who cost us £4m.

I do wonder whether Gollini had requested/demanded a move home, he seemed to be dropped sharpish after error v Leeds.

Maybe he club had told him he could go IF they got someone else in...will we recoup £4m ( I doubt it)

Also why did we just get an equally inexperienced keeper in?

Sam Johnson 'signing'.

Except it's not really is it. Because he will be off at the end of the season.

Pointless move in my view. Loan with view of permanent is fine but otherwise why are we developing a player for another club?. Why are we not building a team. This is not forward thinking to building a squad to get up and stay in the premier league. A young inexperienced gk to add to the young inexperienced gk we signed 5 months ago who has seriously contributed to costing us about 9 points already.
Usual boring sound bites from Johnson and the club that are meaningless because he will be gone in 5 months
Seriously unimpressed.

Wouldn't mind, as Holtelower also says, if this is with a buy on clause. Doubt it though.

But if he's as good as the quotes in the Brum Mail article (linked in my front page article) say then he's an improvement on what we have.
