Agree, Bruce will get it right, the problem is, I think it is clear to see that he has inherited a lot bigger mess than anybody imagined.

My worry is, up until this month, the perception has been "get a few midfielders and it will be OK" but the more we play, the more it becomes obvious there are issues all over the pitch.

I DONT BELIEVE THIS !!!!!!

Just seen the goal on telly - its a million times worse than I thought at the game - utterly appalling by everyone (probably bar Adomah who at least tried to do something) 4 outfield players and the gaolie just stood there and watched the ball trickle into the net no more than 1 metre from their feet.

Disgusting goal !

I know you want to turn everything into an argument with me - saying I favour players etc... - you will see from my stats today, Ias , in the last few weeks, I have praised Grealish, I think you will see, on Saturday I put something like "the effort was there, but it just never worked for him.

But today, he was a moaning, petulant twat who was just about to get himself sent off !!! - and If you don't believe me - have a listen to what his manager had to say -

""But Jack needs to learn not to react. We don't want players throwing arms in the air when they're tackled or think decisions have gone against them."

"He's a very decent player and he has to be careful he doesn't turn into a circus act, waving his arms around every time he gets challenged," Bruce told BBC WM.

So, don't have a go at me !!!

You forgot to mention the bit where Bruce also said that Grealish needs protection from the referees , one or two of the tackles on him were dangerous , especially the chest high one in the first half.

There has been awful lot of money spent and a good few new players in. Brought in my the new regime and new club structure. Yes i know there is the RDM influence which was clearly a mistake but again the new regime picked him and saw it fit to back him with the players he wanted. I imagine there was input from other 'footballing' people at the club.

If Bruce has inherited a mess then part of the mess has been created by the new regime in place. This really worries me going forward.

You're right, he does, but Grealish needs to realise he is a winger in what is probably the most physical league in the entire world.
t
As I have said before, if he doesn't like that - go with his mates and work at the Land Rover.

Bruce has continually said it - in this league you need guts, hunger and charector. You don't need someone who has a hissy fit every time he is tackled (and not fouled !). He was lucky to stay on today, and everyone knew it. On the wing, he left his leg out, hoping to get touched, he wasn't , he went down flailing his arms, ref waved play on, he got up, had "yet another" hissy fit and the ref let it go. It was definately one of those that , if he hadn't already been booked, he would have been, the ref could have took his pick from the dive or the dissent - but he let it go.

Literally minutes later, he did it again (about 3 seconds prior to Gabby's turn and shot)

One more episode and he would have been off.

I praise him when he does well (as I have recent weeks, as I have Westwood over recent weeks) I have a go when he has been poor, as I have today, as I have with Westwood / Gardner and the majority today.

But (and if you dont want to admit this, then fair enough) unless this kid starts doing it with his feet, instead of his mouth, he will end up exactly where Stefan Moore did !, He is not a young kid anymore - generally, players in his position are at their best between the ages of 20-24 , they then tend to change position - he is 22, and STILL has had 120 minutes of good football

Bruce is not the problem , he's a proven successful manager at this level .
It is definitely the players . Out of the current senior squad I would only keep a handful
Chester , baker , Jedinak, Kodija , maybe amavi maybe Grealish . Beyond that I'm struggling and I'm not 100% on amarvi or Grealish .
Considering how much has been spent that is appalling

I agree with those 4 but there is even an issue there.

Jedinak will be 36 next season - will he still be able to do it ? - so we even need to look at replacing him !

It does beg the question (in hindsight) could an unfit Petrov be any worse than what we have in there ?

Which begs the question then that if we have wasted loads of money then the new regime under Dr T is flawed and as bad as whats gone before under Lerner.

But did they do what the previous regime didn't and let the manager pick the players.

I get the impression that players like Gollini were Di Matteos choices, not the boards, and if so, all you can ask of the board is to back the manager.

However, in hindsight , the appointment was a mistake - but most of us on here, including myself, didn't think so at the time, so I can't see how we can now have a go at the board.

To me it looks like RDM is the one to blame for this mess

It's woeful when you look about who we have signed for millions and those let go . Players like lowton , Weizmann, bannan, whittingham , albrighton, Johnson, carruthers , Holman , bent, and soon to be Gestede . Others I've probably forgotten .
We have spent millions and assembled a dreadful squad and the mentality is non existent.
I hope Bruce doesn't throw the towel in on us as we would be staring down the barrel if that ever happened

Just for the record Jediank is 32 , and Grealish is 21 (You put 22 earlier)

Don't think that will ever happen, he has alluded to it many times, he has waited for a job like this for 20 years. We could go down to League 2 and it would still be the biggest club he will ever manage.

One day, he will inevitably be sacked, they all are (bar two) , but I can't ever seeing walking away (unless the England job comes calling)

Bruce is proven at this level and thats what will get us moving forward. Big thing for me today was there were no leaders in that first half , so many hiding .

He did say on WM post match in a very frank and honest interview that this was unacceptable for Aston Villa and also no good for him (seemed to intimate at health) .
I like Bruce and hope he never quits until he's accomplished his mission. He's by far the best manager we have had since Sir Graham .

Your right aren't you - just looked it up.

Could have swore I saw he was 35 somewhere.

Oh, thats not too bad then, should have at least 2 years in this league.

Got to be honest Sirden, that post has settled my nerves massively, coz I have honestly thought the last few weeks, once Jedinaks legs go, we are totally fecked !.

Although, at 32 , it is time to tell him, if you want to prolongue your first team career, its time to retire from international football.

I am sure if it was too much for the likes of Lampard, Gerard and Terry, to travel 100 miles to Burton, it is too much for Jedinak to travel 30000 miles !
