A good run of results can and will put you there or thereabouts at the end of the season. This league is incredibally tight!

Agreed mate and welcome on board!

Watching Westwood try to tackle is like watching a 5 year old tackle his dad in the garden.

No a 5 year old actually would try and tackle , Westwood never tackle he avoids and form of contact like the plague .

I see the clowns are out trying to make him forum MOTM again .

Westwood starts and we fail to win , what a surprise . Jedinak plays on his own and get criticised just like Sanchez before him .

Steve Bruce will know what is required and I am sure will have made his requests to Dr X by now. Two midfielders is a minimum - one a holding midfielder and a creative midfielder.

Ayew is a liability and his meanderings with the ball allow the opposition to regroup and hunt him down and win back possession. He just gets the ball and hangs on to it and all any opposition manager has to do is to tell them to put 2 or 3 on him and win the ball back as he hardly ever passes. It is to be noted that Amavi has his bad games when playing behind Ayew.

The same can be said for Grealish but at least he tries to play the ball forward and into space. Perhaps the opposition midfield know that when Ayew doesn't have the ball he doesn't need watching and this allows extra men to home in on Jack.

Westwood is just too lightweight and treats the ball like a red hot potato and wants to get rid of it as soon as it arrives at his feet and this usually means sideways but more often than not backwards. Again this allows the opposition to regroup into 2 solid rows of 4 and playing through that is really difficult with the likes of Kodija, McCormack and Gestede as they cannot work with balls that are played through the middle.

Bacuna and Adomah can provide the width but they then leave big holes in the middle and without cover they have to come back inside and the game becomes congested again - Leeds had sussed this out and made sure that Westwood and Ayew were harrased and this put pressure on Jedinak.

We all want Gardner to succeed but he is not a dominating player. He will do the fetching and carrying but will not put his foot in to win the ball back.

I would like better fullbacks, a new goalkeeper and a more direct striker but we can do so much better with the midfield sorting out. Nothing new in my post really as loads of others have said pretty much the same.

Over to you Stevie boy!!

I think we are a long way off looking a decent team, SB has had to work with what he has inherited (yes in some cases at silly money), and his team selections can seem somewhat baffling to us.....all that said i'm glad he's at our Football Club and think we may sneak a play off place still....which whilst we had RDM at the helm I felt was a lost cause.

I just have a funny feeling we will come up against Leeds at some point in the play offs...not sure why, just have a feeling

First chance to get on.

Can I say from the off. I saw more hunger, fight and passion last night in a performance, probably since tge semi final. Yes we had a dodgy patch, yes we made mistakes, but EVERY player gave their all last night and ifvthey continue to do that, then no complaints from me.

Scores

Bunn 5 - would have been higher but dropped a clanger tgat nearly cost us. Ovrrall though, he is impressing

Hutton 6- good solid game, usually commited Al, dropped marks though for woeful crossing

Chester 8 - absolute solid performance, captain material

Baker 6 - Good game but was partly at fault for goal and lost his man a few times. However, their bloke was good

Amavi 3 - if you had asked me after 30 mins I would have said 9, but totally wentvto pot after. Continually horrendous decision makibg, Bruce needs to have a word ciz it seemed to me that he was outbto impress suiters by showboating

Jedinak 6 - for long periods he bossed that midfield

Westwood 7 - yes a seven !!!!. He was all ovrr the place last night, typified by the track back and clearence. Possibly his best performance ever !

Bacuna 6 - see Westwood, but get the feeling he could produce more creativity

Grealish 4 - prior to injury hsd little impact, however, workrate was there

Kodjia 6 - scored so extra points but not one ofvhis better games. Would have been a 5

Ayew 6 - worked very hard, as Bacuna, flattered to deceive creativity wise but work like that, it'll come

McCormack 7 - worked his socks off. As Ayew, do tgat and the goals will come

Gestede 6 - just ss he leaves he shows us what an asset he could have been. Won pen and nearly set up winner. Ifs buts and all that

Adomah 6v- see McCormack

Bruce 8 - whatever he said since Burton worked. All i expect is paddion and work and we got it. This 4 1 5 formation is wierd but you have to say it worked !.

All in all, I came away much happier ladt night having drew than v Burton when we won. Play like tgat agaunst 21 teams, and wecwill beat at least 15 of them !

Poor old Steve keeps chopping and changing trying to find some kind of balance with our midfield and strikers but the sad truth is that we don't have 6 decent players to fill those positions. We probably have 2 (Jedi and Codger).

At the moment, regardless of who he plays, we are an incoherent team.

He's done well to get us into the top half after our miserable start and considering how disjointed our squad is.

I'm hoping for major surgery in the January window but it's difficult to bring in 4 or 5 decent players at this time.

The midfield was embarrassing last night, just totally over run and out tackled pretty much every ball.
Westwood pulling out of challenges is disgraceful.

Shocked by comments on here. Howevrr it is noticable that the majority who watched it on tge telly just think everything is shit and the msjority who went say tgey enjpyed it.

That is a bloody good Leeds team there and they didnt hardly cross the half way line for 50 mins, we had a dodgy 15 mins (clearly still frail confidence, then we dominated the last 20, granted, nearly gifting them the win in the process.

So why all the doom and gloom ?. We all know the issues and I am 99% they will be sorted, but until they are, as long as the ones playing give 100% , then i am happy. And they all did last night (inc Grealish)

One quibble - Where the hell has Oasis gone !!!!. Why play that embarrassing tripe !

Assuming that Brighton and Newcastle do not slip up we have a 50/50 chance of meeting them in the Playoffs

Westwood a 7 out of a 100 maybe.
Watched him bottle tackles and get pushed off the ball. Keep him in the team and you get nothing. Utterly laughable.

Westwood was our best midfielder last night. Yes I am as shocked as everyone else but judging his performance on his actual performance rather than my opinions of him in general then yes 7 out of 10 is the correct score for his display.

Unbelievably shocking last night , but because but because he actually tracked back once and did his job Holte gives him a 7 , Lets forget he bottled challenge after Challenge hardly touched the ball again
Oh and yes we won a game once when Westwood started /

It's like playing with 10 players

I did see him play 2 forward passes , so that must give him an extra mark , but he loses that for bottling those challenges.

So you'd play who else in that role 57?

The choices are:

Tshibola
Gardner

Now I don't know what Tshibola has done to Bruce, but he isn't even making the squad, so it's a straight choice between AW & GG.

It's easy to find a problem but no so easy to find the solutions. Yes we need more and better players in the midfield but we let a load go out on loan under RDM. You can't knock Westwood for his effort last night, occasionally his application left a little to be desired, but I couldn't single him out for criticism when others deserved it so much more.

Sorry but Westwood bottling challenges last night gets him -1 out of 10 . The minimum expectation is bravery and commitment.

Let's not also forget Leeds were missing their best defender in Kyle Bartley . We missed a golden chance of gaining some ground last night.

If you seriously think Westwood was our best midfielder in any match your batshit crazy.
He tracked back once whhhoooooo.
Doesn't score , can't pass or run forward with the ball and can't tackle , utter shit and no half measures.
