The game stats are worrying too.
Possession in the mid 30% region, at home, is a disgrace.

This ultra cautious 'hold on to the point we start the match with' approach, will ultimately see us relegated again.

We won, so proves possession stats mean nothing as they often do. Don't care about 10% possession if we win.
Even more so when most of the forest possession was arsing about in their half.

I may not be convinced on promotion but there is not a chance in hell we will be relegated.

Bruce has a point, with the advent of social media and the internet fans are more willing to complain and have the medium to do it. Patience has gone out of the window and fans expect champagne football every single game. In my 40 odd years of watching football I cannot remember any team that plays fantastic football every game, it just doesnt happen.Of course we have had to put up with dire football for the best part of a decade now so it is not surprising that we are all desperate for decent football, but it takes time. More than 12 months of time. The notion of instant results it nonsense for a side such as us who have had a decades worth of upheaval and trauma. We are getting there, we are building nicely and for the first time in a long time firm foundations have been laid. We just need everybody to show a bit more patience for a little while longer.

I'm never convinced by that. It is more immediate and quicker. But before, wasn't it the same just around a pub table instead of in front of a keyboard and computer screen?

People are a bit braver online with the protection of not being face to face though, I'd agree on that.

Yep, it was always like that, some complaints were beyond. I had a neighbour for 15 years, a staunch Villa "fan". Never once did I hear him say a good word about the team or the manager. Running things down was his great satisfaction in life. I remember Dalien Atkinson's goal in the cup against MU. According to the neighbour, Dalien tripped over his own legs and caught the ball in doing so. Fans like that would never survive on social media.

Fans on social media express hope as well as disappointment. Reckon it balances out. A glass half empty is only another way of looking at a glass half full.

Yep, there is no doubt that performances should improve, and need to, however I will take results at this stage of our reconstruction. We have a much more balanced squad than when we were relegated. It is coming good.

As for the pub table, yes of course fans have always voiced there opinion, but with the internet they can voice that opinion in their thousands jumping on any bandwagon with just a few clicks. There is no doubt in my mind that technology, and the money in the game has shortened peoples attention spans. The whole sack him bandwagon after four games on here was quite shocking.

It wasn't after 4 games Wurzel he has been here a lot longer than that. Questions were being asked last season so it's not a bandwagon either. I still say he should be sacked as this man will not get us promoted and I think he dislikes Villa fans. It's a waste of time going on and on about it especially after a win but we will be back here in a couple of weeks when results have dipped again.

Bruce will last the season but we won't make the play offs, then he will be out.

It was after four games of this season and it certainly was a bandwagon fuelled by those who don't like the fact that he was Blues manager, or that he was knocking on, or that he didn't have an Italian surname, or that he wasn't known for his free flowing football. I have only heard him compliment the Villa fans apart from the usual online trolls and a dickhead behind the dugout and if it was me having to deal with the crap he has to I wouldn't be so polite as Mr Bruce. As for where we will finish, who knows, I keep saying it , this league is the most difficult to get out of.

I got back yesterday from two and a half weeks in Brum during which time I managed to take in four games.
The Brentford game was dross, and I thought they were the better team.
Middlesborough game was equally poor, although the poor refereeing decision re the Villa sending off probably cost us the points.
Only went down the cup match because I was up there and it seemed a shame not too, but as expected loads of changes and a load of shit.
The Forest game we showed a bit more attacking intent, and nice to see a goal scored in open play.I think JT thinks hes still at Chelsea with some of the first time passes he gives to some of our defence and midfield players when in tight situations, but nice not to see it humped up the park.
At the time of posting we are 3-0 up at Burton and even we cant blow that lead.
Its not pretty but it is moving in the right direction, slowly.
We would be mad to sack Bruce at this point in time. The team is begining to pick itself now that Kodje is back, its looks more ballanced and a bit of stability is appearing.
I think his hysteria comments are aimed more at people having a go at him on the internet rather than at VP.
Its not pretty but it looks better than anything we have seen in recent seasons and we have to stick with it.

I was happy when he got the job it's not my fault he's been average and has a thin skin. I'm not sure what "crap" he's had to deal with to be honest but if you think that Steve Bruce is above criticism then fair enough. I disagree that it's a hard league to get out of. Brighton and Huddersfield did it last season and we have a much better squad than them we should be getting promoted at a canter. Hopefully he can do it so let's see where we are at the end of the season. I don't really care about the man either way if he can take us up then fantastic if not then we should get rid. It's nothing personal.

Credit where credit is due, he's now got us going in the right direction after a poor start.

This squad should be in play offs as a minimum level in my opinion, so I'm not going to hail him as a genius for getting us 2 points off.

But 3 league wins certainly makes all Villa fans smile, so well done all.

I’d just about lost my patience with him after Brentford/Middlesbrough, my thinking was if we couldn’t score past them at home then what chance does he have in the long run with the players at his disposal?! I don’t wanna speak too soon because it could all go to shit again, but it looks like he might’ve found a winning formula. I’m happy for him to stay if he keeps us in the mix to go up, I don’t dislike nor have a problem with him and tbh I dunno who’s out there that would be a better replacement which is why I voted to keep him on another thread. Keep it up Bruce and everyone will be behind you.

As a critic of SB recently I'm glad he's turned it around and I give him credit for not being stubborn enough to stick to a losing formula.

The reason he's doing it recently is because he's doing the things most of us had been calling for from the first few weeks:

4-4-2 not 4-3-3
Drop Gabby and Hutton
Play Adomah on the wing not Elmo

Those three points above were obvious to a fair few of us on here who arent professionals in the game but can see he obvious. He takes credit for the more attacking line up and the discovery of Davis, taking a chance on a young prospect.

He was forced into making the change as Flabby was injured. He was also forced into bringing Adomah back in place of Green. Sometimes injuries have a habit of working out for the best. SB is the luckiest manager we have had in a while and long may it continue.

I am yet to be convinced long term that he will bring the ultimate success that we all crave, but as long as he remains lucky and wins football matches, we can have a stay of execution. The players (both current & ex) all seem to love him for his man management skills and we all know if the players are willing, that is half the battle.

It does seem that goals are coming from all quarters now which has been missing for a long time. Long may it continue, but I am with Bikini that October's fixtures will tell us a lot more.
