Yet people say there is no room for Onomah in a 442, too attacking they say.

Though I do have concerns about our midfield the idea of Kodjia and Davis as strike partners is definitely exciting. Davis certainly has the potential to get into double figures and provide extra ammunition for Kodjia to get 20+.

We can't rely on Kodjia+Davis alone. Either could get injured or need resting. There are other players who can play up front, if there's the right setup behind them.

Good man, Steve. 442 is the way to go. Now you have to find two who can score goals together regularly. Once you have done that, you have to shape the team around the style of play and the strengths of the strikers.

Stick with it, Steve. You'll get the hang of this management lark eventually.

7 points from 21, Leeds 10 points ahead already. Mass hysteria?

Comments like he made last night about "mass hysteria" really aren't helping his case. No one is hysterical, but plenty are concerned about the complete lack of progress over the past 12 months, the continual tinkering with the system (and tactics, such as they are), as well as the standard trick of the Villa manager is trying to force square pegs into round holes.

I am getting sick and tired of his post-match interviews. The "improvement" was NOT "there for all to see" either Steve. We laboured against 10 men for the best part of an hour. Nothing was done (until half-time) to change the approach when we got the gift of Adama being sent off.

It's not his fault, of course, that Snodgrass can't convert from 5 yards out, or Hourihane had his goal saved by a team-mate. But that's beside the point. The point is, we are not an attacking side, we are negative and set up for a draw, hoping to nick something to hold on to. That's not going to get us promoted.

It's the second time he's made comments of this nature and frankly he needs to drop it quickly. Maybe he should speak to David O'Leary about what happens when Villa managers start having digs at the fans.

He's beginning to sound like he did towards the end at Sunderland when he dragged up the 'it's because I'm a Geordie' excuse a couple of times regarding fan criticism. Now we're 'hysterical' - maybe he should look closer to home for the reasons people aren't happy.

Where I previously felt he was a decent sort of bloke even that has now worn away and I'm starting to dislike the guy and his pathetic rhetoric.

He is out of date, out of ideas and out of excuses.....Just do the decent thing Dr. Tony and put him and us out of our misery.

Yes he is certainly feeling the pressure and a man under pressure sometimes finds it hard to think clearly.

I don't think he's a very clever bloke and lately his comments reflect that.

Like O'Leary was he's trying to keep his job and coming up with more and more excuses.

If he was speaking as say blues manager then 7 points from 21 would probably be acceptable, but for us who desperately need to get out of this league it is a complete disaster.

He's now clutching at straws and having a go at the fans should be the end.

I can see him being in charge for the Barnsley game but behind the scenes I would imagine someone is being lined up for his job.

So many parallels between his disastrous time at Sunderland and now at Villa Park that it helped me make my mind up about him and his outdated approach well before the end of last season.

In fact, I publicly said I didn't want him at Villa Park before he was finally chosen but I lived in the hope he would prove me wrong.

The simple fact of the matter is that he is incapable of turning things around hence why he has been sacked or walked out so many times.

I agree TH. It's scary reading the similarities between now and his time at Sunderland.

Sounds like the comments of a manager who suspects that they won't be in the job for much long.

No point going into detail but 1 win in 7 games with poor performances to match for a team aiming for promotion is hardly mass hysteria - it's just crap.

What was that O'Leary banner? Could be updated: "We're not hysterical, we just don't rate you."
