He takes credit for the more attacking line up and the discovery of Davis, taking a chance on a young prospect.

He was forced into making the change as Flabby was injured. He was also forced into bringing Adomah back in place of Green. Sometimes injuries have a habit of working out for the best. SB is the luckiest manager we have had in a while and long may it continue.

I am yet to be convinced long term that he will bring the ultimate success that we all crave, but as long as he remains lucky and wins football matches, we can have a stay of execution. The players (both current & ex) all seem to love him for his man management skills and we all know if the players are willing, that is half the battle.

It does seem that goals are coming from all quarters now which has been missing for a long time. Long may it continue, but I am with Bikini that October's fixtures will tell us a lot more.

In fairness to Bruce, he has always come across as a good, level headed guy in any interview I've seen him do. I came across a stupid prank call on YouTube featuring Brucey. The pretext of the prank was silly and Bruce was very calm and polite to the guy despite the obvious effort at a wind up.

That doesn't make him a brilliant or terrible football manager but hopefully it will shield him from the immature personal insults.

Would've been glad to see him gone a few weeks ago, but if he can maintain good form through the more difficult October fixtures I think he will get us promoted. Really hope to be eating humble pie come seasons end.

Though even if he does get us up, I'd get rid once the final game of the season ends.

Bruce confirming he only bought Adomah back into the team because of injuries

http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-...

I know he isn't always a superstar but Adomah is a hell of a lot better than Elmohamady in the attacking positions... although to be fair Elmohamady has played well since being moved into defence. I don't want to be too critical of Bruce for finding a winning team but it does seem like luck rather than an actual plan

No manager is a perfect fit and it's unreasonable to expect it. At the end of the day it's what we do on the pitch and where we are in the table. I hope he succeeds because I want Villa to succeed. But still have lingering doubts about whether he really has the confidence to get us rolling other teams over as we need to, and the vision to provide a good basis for the PL if we get promoted.

But, time will tell. If we beat Bolton as we surely must this will have been a very good month. If we can carry it over into the 3 matches next month then we are definitely going forwards. Do that and Bruce will have earned our support. Results matter.

ATM Bruce keeps saying that these changes that have worked are all down to luck.

So what happens when his luck runs out.

Manager Steve Bruce has admitted Aston Villa are playing catch up in the Championship this season but he also knows nobody would have predicted the current top six in the division.

Hindsight and all that but Bruce made a mistake yesterday falling into the keep picking a winning team and you can't go wrong trap. Correct me if i'm wrong but don't top managers will always tweak and tinker with their team even if they are winning?. Often to suit the match or opposition. We were never going to go on and on winning with the same 11 week after week (and i do not mean changes enforced like injuries). Example yesterday. We knew Wolves had pace all over the pitch and especially in midfield so why not tweak it by bringing Onomah in for some pace in our central area?. Nothing wrong with tweaking a winning team, we should be able to do it.

We are crying out for pace in midfield through the middle and have been for ages. We see, the fans i sit with see it, why does the the manager never see it?.

Like it or not the players are playing as they are told, which is based on working it wide at all times. This is why Hourihane and Whelan never turn and run with the ball. If Hourihane has the ability to run with the ball then its being nulified by what he is being told to do. Its always backwards or sideways with the view of working it across to the wings. Same yesterday but they sussed it easily and with the wingers nulified there is no other way for us to play. No plan b. Truth is it was sussed by them before kick off. Which goes back to the tweaking, keep our players and the opposition on their toes.

Bruce's downfall will be the inflexibility of his team set up. Maybe this is what people mean when they call him a dinosaur. Its the same over in Sandwell with Pulis. One way of playing and unless it works they are screwed.

To cap it all, it was a winning team but one which looked pretty dozy in its last win. We're in an era where to be successful you have to have pace; it creates opportunities, it scares the opposition. We don't scare the opposition. And for all the money we've spent we haven't a midfield which can dominate against anything other than poor opposition.

I don't think we have a future with Bruce. He has qualities but they aren't the ones which will get us where we ought to be. We need somebody with a different mindset.

I think a different mind-set would play a totally different team. I'd love to see O'Hare, Bree, Hayes, Onomah, Green, Davis and Grealish (or variations of them) in the same team and given a run. They are the future and they need to start bedding in at this level with regular starts. If we swapped Bruce for Nunez, I wonder what his starting 11 would be?

The problem is, my job doesn't depend on getting results, Bruce's does and he's always going to pick the tried and trusted pros. Only Johnstone & Hourihane started on Saturday out of the 8 buys in January - feels like he's given up on all of them.

Amazing that the other 6 January buys aren't playing. Why did he buy them?
