May be cruel, but I think de Laet is the one who is surpless. He's obviously not PL material and we don't know whether he'll get back to his best. Reckon Hutton and Bree is a nice combination to see us through this season.

Like some have said there are a fair few leaches I'd sooner see go than McCafu but if he really is on 40k and we can get a few quid for him it's one position we have covered What with Bree ,De Laet and even fat boy Richards who was the best right back in England 8 years ago,

Wouldn't be bothered in the least if he left. Brilliant athlete, great work ethic (bar the odd time when he seems to dawdle tracking back) and I'd be fine with him being a back up to Bree this season but he's just not good enough to be a starter for a team with aspirations of promotion as he can't do anything football related with any competence. Crossing, passing, positional awareness, marking and any defending that doesn't involve desperate lunging slide tackles are all things he is hopeless at. If we're planning on playing 3 at the back though I'd definitely keep him as that wing back role is not one Bree looked comfortable in.

I agree with this. He works hard but he has to work hard to make up for those shortcomings mentioned. I like him but if he left I wouldn't be too fussed and he'd go with my best wishes.

It seems the general feeling about Hutton on here is against him. In a constructive and reasoned way though to be fair.

However, that just does not reflect the general feeling around me with people where i sit. He is a bit of cult hero. Think this comes from his committment and will put his foot in where it hurts and he has alot of credit to come back from the bomb squad without the sulk and diva act. He is limited, like many others who have come and gone and are still here to be fair, but i don't think he is as bad as some make out.

With Hutton, Bree, De laet and also Bacuna who can play there we are over loaded at right back. I would keep Bree and Hutton, playing Bree first and bin De laet.

I think having JT in the ranks, makes it the time to play a 3-man back line, with a 2-man holding pair in front of them, with high playing wide-men and a central player who can not only see a pass but, can make one. Add in two strikers, one playing a little deeper than the other and that's a formation that with the right players, can be a potent attacking force, as well as solid defensively. It is a formation that's easily changed to the standard 4-4-2.

If Hutton stays and plays then 3 at the back seems likely but to be honest his forays up front have proved for the most part pointless.

He certainly plays with his heart on his sleeve the only problem is he leaves his brain in the dressing room.

Yeah, De Laet is relatively untested and for me Richards can go.... sooner the better.

Quality cross are put in to the right areas for attackers to attack. Alan Hutton mainly falls over, if he doesn't fall over he rarely gets the ball passed the defender and if by some miracle the ball gets into the box it is about as much use to a forward as a chocolate tea pot. Made my views clear on this - he is just not of the standard required, move aside and let Bree grow as a player.

And most love him for his effort. If I pulled on a Villa shirt you would get effort.

Can you play right back? You can never have enough right backs, it seems.

Hutton will not be going anywhere this season because no other club will pay him £45k a week. Also if he moves on a free, it gives the signing club some wiggle room to offer a better wage.
