As Lewis1980 says on the homepage, the guy deserves it. He's not the best RB we've had, but you cannot question his commitmment and effort. Even last season after coming in back from the cold, he put others to shame. And with Bree being so young and DeLaet out for a time it does make perfect sense.

7 years of alan hutton and alike. Ridiculous and predictable at the same time.
Ill start to believe we are moving forward when the shit has been churned out. Huttons effort has been 1st class but we are a professional football club and effort is a bare minimum request.

Hutton isn't just effort. Shove him in a good well-organised team and he'll put in a good performance. Most of the time with us he's had to make it up as he goes along.

I think the quality has been better from him over the last month. In fact since Bree signed , so if thats what competition for places does then I am all for it.

Perhaps I dare suggest that the coaching of Calderwood , Clemence and Bruce may have helped as well.

Hutton deserves this and it makes sense. As has been said above De Laet long term injured, who knows how he will come back and Bree looks ok but very young.
We havnt had to lay out a fee, just a renegotiated contract and Hutton is a decent squad player.

Just makes you want to rush out and buy a season ticket in case you miss something. I seriously hope Bree prevails.

I've just given myself a very big shock. I read the description of the thread as - Alan Hutton At Aston Villa For Another 218 Year/Contract Clause

With the behaviour of many fellow players falling well below what is expected Hutton, while questionable quality, has given his all for villa. Remember he was part of the bomb squad training with the youth under Lameberk, and I dont recall an utterance of moaning from him throughout his time with us.
Fair play to him.

Sir Dennis Of Mortimer

He works hard, rolls his sleeves up (as it were) and puts in a shift. He's never in a million years going to be a marauding full-back in the Cafu/Roberto Carlos vein, but he works hard and gives his best. We can't ask for more.

I'm happy for him to be around for another year, but only as a back-up to Bree (unless Bree turns out to be sub-standard. We never saw enough of de Laet to establish what he brings to the party, but Hutton is way better defensively than Bacuna. Going forward, not so much.

No caveats from me. He must be a good influence on the team, he's a grafter.

I'd like to believe what Bruces says about him , but those comments about Gabby a few months ago leads me to believe stevie boy tells people what they want to hear regarding players
