He was at his best with Delph and Cleverley playing alongside him, both industrious players who could pick up the pace. Who in the current side is driving the engine room, everything is so pedestrian, Jedinak can't run and Landsbury looks like a bus in reverse. In fact there isn't much pace in the Villa set up - didn't one of those player interviews say that the Scottish Cafu was the speediest player we had?

No photos of our Jack in a gutter smashed off his tits.

How the sporting press are lacklustre this year..........

Perhaps he's thought it a good idea to concentrate on his football career this summer...... you never know...

He was with the England u21's when he probably would've otherwise been on holiday. I also imagine previous years have meant he's had to reign it in a bit now he's more widely known.

Nah the media will have moved onto the England Under 20s' this year following the World Cup success.

See which of their players they can go back 14 years to find a picture of a balloon with.

be a fascinating season for Jack. It will be a ship up or ship out I'd have thought. GOT to make more of an impact more often and certainly when starting.

The only time Grealish has produced on anything approching a consistent basis, was when he was on loan at Notts County, in Div 2.
To be honest, I fear that that may well be his level.

Grealish was on holiday with the u21's - never played a second. Like I said elsewhere, if he thought he had anything to prove he would have been back with the Villa squad. He and his advisors obviously think otherwise, they are of course wrong. Good job H&S haven't yet required helmets for heading a ball, never get one to fit.

So what! He doesn't have to take advice from anyone. What did he really do last season? I would have thought he would be bursting at the seams to get going this season and be back with Villa from the start. He never kicked a ball in anger in Poland but his fitness levels must have been maintained, nice weather, I would have thought he would have come back ready to go. Perhaps he has to have a week in Ibiza. It is hard not to think he is milking it and he will be another LH

Edit - and by the way, maybe Bruce was sounding him out, maybe he was saying have another break but half expecting him to turn it down. Who knows

He could be the difference this season, if he could finally get his head on and live up to 10 % of the early hype he could make a huge difference to our team. We already knew it but tonight confirmed how we are crying out for a bit of quality on the ball to link midfield with the front players and pick out their runs with a pass on the floor not a hoof. He should also be scoring close to double figures

Maybe, he did want to come back and get straight back into it? But was told by the highly trained and professional csports scientist and physios that are employed nowadays told him he needed to rest. You have absolutely no idea, neither do i so why presume the worst?.

Everyone, from an amateur runner to a highly trained athlete needs a total rest at some point. You dont need to be an expert to know that.

He was called up, unless exceptional circumstances apply he has to go.

Not getting a game doesn't mean no training and no break and if anything even with an extra couple of weeks to recharge, his levels will be good as he was match ready until recently so he route back to fitness won't be difficult.

In some ways once he's blown the cobwebs off he'll actually be a better natural shape than others.

McCormack's in great shape if you find a fucking weeble attractive.

The official villa Instagram account uploaded a picture of jack yesterday with a comment welcoming him back. He was obviously given some extra time off having been with England.

Jack Grealish could be out for two to three months after undergoing surgery following the hit he took in last weekend's friendly against Watford.
