So, the self proclaimed biggest club in the midlands fall into the bottom 3. Away to Liverpool and the home to Manure next. For a big club such as they are two easily winnable games

OK Burnley probably won't stay in the top 4. But the thing which will please Dyche is that they're only 9 points off the safety line of 40 points with less than half the season gone. Looking at the team sheet I don't recognise a single name (apart from Westy). Shows what a well set-up club with a top manager can do, even if it's a small one.

A lot of the media have had them down for relegation this season. In fact they've improved season after season.

Yes, and they play decent football as well. Easy on the eye, non-hoofball stuff.

Imagine that!

Fair play to Burnley. But this is just the premier league cycle in effect. Stoke, Swansea, Saints, Baggies all did what Burnley are doing before they inevitiably plateau out and unrealistic expectation kicks in and they forget what they did in the first place to get them 4th. And before you can say Dyche for United they are in a relegation scrap or at best lower mid table.

I am just getting old ... Randall and Hopkirk [deceased]! And I mean the 69/70 version, not the 2000 remake which I never saw, no point. Now, if SB could sign a creative midfielder called Randall and a goalscorer called Hopkirk .. we would be in business.

No, never saw the reboot myself - couldn't stomach it - was it Reeves and Mortimer????

Original was too good for me and obviously being born in 1979 I only got the joy of repeats rather than seeing it first hand, but nobody would take a Morecambe and Wise remake, Porridge was too far for me as well, so Randall and Hopkirk should never have been touched either.

I know some see pound signs but originals should be given another airing in my humble and let them take the new audience rather than a poor remake.

Had to look up the remake characters, yeah you are right. Wonder how VAR would cope with a Hopkirk ? Can just see it now, motd pundits saying how on earth the ref didn't see that ...

Without going wildly off topic, back at their beginning Reeves and Mortimer bored the crap out of me like Villa do now so that's why it probably stuck.

Lol at VAR - that would be a never ending replay but can guarantee if either played for Man U/Chelsea etc their unfair advantage would certainly be within the laws of the game!

Not sure about this PL cycle. Saints sometimes slump a bit but they've never been in real danger, in spite of selling off their best players and managers. Swans were doing OK until they started making bad decisions at the top; it started when Jenkins and Laudrup fell out. The cycle happens but I don't think it's inevitable. What happens at the core of a club matters a lot; Burnley were promoted, were relegated but didn't panic, came back up again, and have progressed.
