We're Aston Villa FFS,we're the biggest team in Birmingham and we should be upset at finishing 7th like Liverpools fans do every season. After Mcleish I thought I'd never feel the hatred for football I had but this season is making me hate it more.and I more gutted for every one of you that watches it week in week out not the 5-6 games I can get to a season.
And how right you are Sir Brian, you are feeling and thinking exactly like me and others who are aware of what is actually going on at the Villa,
We ain't no fuckin Wigan indeed,
Well said Bri |

| remember lerner donated 5m to the national portrait gallery in 2008, lamberts supposed to buy a whole team with 20ish million , the blokes a fucking idiot who is asset stripping our club ready to sell it, all he has done in the summer is tart up a run down house, weve had new door handles when instead we needed a new roof & double glazing, LERNER FUCK OFF |

Just got back and am absolutely gutted. I don`t blame Lambert, he`s been forced to build a completely new team with £20 million and the academy. I think he`ll need at least the same again this window and if the rumours about having only £5 million are true Randy is condemning us to relegation. Was Holman injured? Seemed strange to bring Bannan on at half time.
How do you know he is being forced ?? and yes BB on the left wing was tactical genius by the man who can do no wrong!
He`s had 20 million to spend and needed to replace Warnock, Hutton, Collins, Dunne, Ireland, Heskey who were contributing nothing. I`d call that forced. Not saying Lambert hasn`t made mistakes mate (the love-in with Bannan being 1 ) but we all knew what was needed at the end of last season. 20 million was never going to be enough imo.
No he did not need to replace those players , it was his choice he could have motivated them , could he not ? he chose to sell Collins and bring in Vlaar , he chose to send Hutton and warnock on loan .
If he was half a manager he could get them playing surely?
He wasn't forced he chose to do what most of us thought needed doing , he could have chosen the Eck route and played them .
Players he has brought in are his, it's his team and his fault the lazy bastards never went for it today until the last few minutes . When his tactic was to put 4 strikers up front and launch it . |

| Humph. Thoroughly depressing game. We didn't deserve to lose. But this is Southampton. Not Arsenal or Manchester United! Plan A is not working, but there seems no Plan B. I really really hope there is.
Randy was there for the Wigan game, surely he could see the problems. Surely the conversations with the manager have had to be full and frank, and surely he knows this isn't working.

| MON reached his peak and started to sink, this was with more money ploughed in..His signing were not paying off. In fact MON's best team was heavily influenced by Laursen and Barry, who he inherited. His signings on the whole were not that great. I do not need to list all the signings and the amount paid to make Villa fans realise this surely? The last thing the club needed was to invest more huge sums on wages/trans fees on the poor calibre player MON was interested in. McGReedy anyone?
Houllier was brilliant, he brought in a great back room with MacAllister, Cowans and that French guy for his fitness trainer. Shame it never lasted but fans shouting "you dont know what your doing" soon sealed his fate and maybe made the guy wished the ground could have swallowed him up that day. I hear these situations are not great for one's heart.
McLeish was a shambles, relegation battle WITH a team picked with all our seniors like Collins, Dunne, Warnock, Hutton, Bent etc etc. AND FANS WANT THESE PLAYERS BACK? lol we really are a fickle stupid bunch.
Lambert is the best we could hope for. He will need patience and backing from fans. Calling for his head is just complete and utter stupid. The squad he is building need confidence, they are not bad players...Bad players cant knock a strong Man City sided out of the league cup, or win at Anfield etc. The 8-0 loss to Chelsea has taken the confidence from the players and if we want to stay up and get to Wembley we have to get the confidence back again..Calling for Lambert's head, saying you want ex-players back etc will not bring the confidence. |

Say a few prayers for us Pete , I think it is time ! |

| They had to win this game and lost it - they won't recover from it unfortunately for us.
Daren't look but I guess that's bottom 3 now with additional away game to clear - signings were needed at the back and in midfield but with recent comments from PL now in mind we haven't sufficient funds to even buy what's required at this level.
Today - Wigan - Spurs - Bradford - Chelsea - Swansea last minute but hey should have been 4 down.
Cheers Villa for a great spell of attitude and determination!

With the exceptions of Collins and Hutton all other seniors were given a chance. Warnock was played during preseason and was awful. Ireland, Delph, Nzog, Gabby and Bent have been poor yet again. His signings haven`t been too bad. Lowton, Vlaar, Westwood and Benteke have all looked decent. Only kea looks a poor buy. You think Lambert plays the academy lads ahead of the seniors because the seniors are better in training? Maybe it`s those seniors we should be blaming. |

Youth Academy Posts: 120 | Bad decisions over a long period. Bought: Beye, Shorey, Warnock, Curtis, Zat, Sidwell, Reo C, Marlon, Ireland, Pires, Makoun, Hutton, Zog etc etc.
Sold: Carlill, Ridgewell and worst of all Milner. I don't think we could have kept: Barry, Ash or Downing so a profit was all we could expect there.
Bad luck too with Laursen and Petrov forced retirements.
But looking for the best buy of the seaon - don't look at Villa. Only in Ash & Milner did we buy 'gems' although Downing was [amazingly] a rare profit and Carew was a gem on his day.
Worst buys in premier league history though; we have some contenders there: Bosco?, Ireland?, Beye?
The Chelsea result and the proximity of games over Christmas combined with injuries has killed our 'kids' mentally. Time for PL to swallow pride and bring back Hutton, Warnock and when fit Dunne - all useless in my view but they're on the wage bill and are fresh legs, if they can keep us up I'll be grateful.
We need some really good loans in NOW - QPR are going to be buying their way out of trouble. |

| How many pre season games did you watch NI?
I watched them all and Warnock wasn't awful at all - if the players he's binned off were crap and his signings are good why are we in the bottom 3? |

Things aren't right at all.
Night all, can't say anything cheerful or constructive at all, so may as well switch off.

Watched any that were on AVTV and was at Forest. 3 times that day Warnock let the ball roll under his foot and out for a throw before he got hooked. I hoped that day I`d never see him play for villa again. Strange how players get better when they`re out of the side. We almost went down last season with said seniors and would`ve gone had the season lasted another 2 weeks. The club needed an overhaul and 20 million was/is nowhere near enough. |

We are in something resembling a bloody awful mess aren't we gentlemen. And that incidentally isn't a question, it's a statement of fact.
