Random quote: Always liked Villa and remember back to the good old days of Peter Withe, Gary Shaw, Dennis Mortimer etc but you now seem to be the perennial underachievers, potentially a massive club but you need to believe it yourselves (Vital Wigan Ed)

I think one area where Lambert's lack of experience at this level has shown is with the whole Bent affair. He hasn't come into a club with big players already there before. Whatever is going on behind the scenes the situation with Bent has been messy. He has already got shot of Hutton and Warnock, Dunne is out for a while and Given and Bent have been benched. With Ireland only playing once in the last three games.
I'm not sure Lambert is interested in (or capable of?) dealing with big star egos when he can get a player of his choice in on half the wages. Taking that all in to account i think Charlie needs to make a huge impact when he returns to not get shipped out. That seems unlikely.

And if that is the case, I don't think we'll trouble the top 6 again. Hopefully it isn't the case and that he can build something special here.

Not necessarily. There's a big difference between being someone lambert brought in (regardless of their star power) and someone who was here already. Bent, Ireland, Dunne, Warnock and N'Zogbia have all have trouble with managers in the past. Lambert has said repeatedly he wants palyers who want to be here and that no one player is bigger than the club. We withdrew interest in Dempsey despite bing the top bidder as soon as he said he didn't fancy Villa. If we build gradually we will be able to attract better and better players.

True. For me, good managers (and I hope he becomes a great) can manage the players he has at his disposal and yes, then some are got rid of when they don't come up to grade.

Guess I was just hoping that some would get a clean slate and maybe prove worth the money spunked on them

Ever the dreamer!

Well we have "Benteke can be whatever he wants to be"and for me, Zoggy can "go wherever he wants to go" because he certainly hasn't pulledup any trees here at Villa, and there's seldom a sign that he would/could.

I'd rather see Zoggy go than DB9!...........

He might as well clear all those who doesn't fancy out, no use to him, us or themselves if he doesn't rate/want them.

Getting some money back for them, judging by what they cost, might be a different thing altogether though.
