1st half MOTM was El Ahmadi, he looked composed on the ball and a complete midfield general.
2nd half I would say was Brett Holman, he looked sharp, worked really hard, had a good touch and took his goal beautifully. I'd have said that Hutton/Stevens were probably our worst players first half, and second half everyone looked good, except Warnock did his standard one mistake a game (half?) thing and Chris Herd/Gary Gardner didnt seem to do a lot.
Just got home from the match, and really enjoyed watching Aston Villa for the fiirst time in a calender year, feel really pleased even if it was a friendly.

Good times were had by all!

All our signings looked composed on the ball, and pretty anti-hoof btw. I shouted hoof at Collins once or twice haha.

Good tempo to our game all things considered.

Out of the 21 players Lamberto watched I bet he could put together a fairly competitive team already I would predict - but we still have players to add so all rosey.

Sadly missed it on AVTV :( Hopefully they will put it up like they did last years friendlies.

Question: What formation(s) did we play? Did we stick with it or did we morph into our standard 4-5-1 over time?

Mainly 442 with 2 wide, but that changed at points with the wingers coming more central - diamond like stylee but it was always with 2 strikers up top.

Oh how I hated doing these last season, same old excuses, same old comments, same old BS like playing four forwards...how quickly things change!

Can't say it was designed that way and not Holman/Zoggy mainly drifting to the space, but that's at least how it looked to me mate.

Cheers lads for the low down and insight into how we played, its about 3 weeks til the start of the season i think i really can't wait, already Lambert has got us trying to play the right way whilst not fully fit and sharp good times ahead,

El Ahmadi and Holman cost us a combined fee of £2million lol unreal just think Sidewll cost us £5million alone and we all know how good he was, great bit of buisness! UTV!

All 3 new signings looked very good - we seemed to be set up to meet the ball quicker whereas last season we let players take a touch first.

Enjoyed the game on Saturday and thought it was a good work out. Burton were well up for it and got stuck in for the first 20 mins but when we adjusted to the pace of the game we looked comfortable.

To early to judge the new signings but what they showed certainly looks promising especially El-Ahmadi who I would have high hopes for.

By the way did anyone else think that N'Zogbia looked a bit chubby ? He certainly filled the shirt.

Did anyone pop into the real ale pub near the Coors brewery I think it was, right near a Army shop, bloody hell was a throwback to the early 1900's, the real ale was beautiful and there was a guy playing the Piano!

Enjoyed Burton so much was a joy to be around.

The game was a nice fan scouting mission to see our new formation and how players look.

Great all round day enjoyed Burton's goal and loved seeing our new signings in particular!

Think I'm going to be a big fan of KEA and Holman, although Holman does have a funny run
