Kevin Phillips, or Super Kev to give him his proper title, made his comeback having missed two months with an ankle injury and despite only being on the pitch for 22 minutes transformed the game.
Kevin was involved in two of the three goals and gave more intelligence, penetration and action than most of the Villa team did in the 68 minutes prior to his arrival! Super Kev has been missed and Super Kev must be a dead cert to start Wednesday's game against league minnows Chelsea.
David O'Leary welcomed him back saying: 'It was good to have Kevin back. He is a really good player and there is no doubt that we have missed him. It was lovely today to have a senior player like him on the bench to be able to call upon instead of having kids. He quickly made his presence known. He has done well for us this season, somebody I wish I could have signed a couple of years ago, and having him back will give us competition up front.'
