This'll upset those with an obsession - the future is definitely claret and blue.

Kevin MacDonald's Aston Villa charges were in action once again yesterday evening and by jove we only went and hit six past the agent led revolution's future hopes.

Villa reduced the gap to the top of the Premier League 2 table to a single point following the 90 minutes at Walsall's Bescot Stadium and one man in particular will be hoping to have impressed Steve Bruce with creativity lacking against Fulham in our last match.

In fact finding the net himself, Callum O'Hare, should've done his chances of being involved the world of good.

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy got us underway inside of the opening ten minutes and Corey Blackett Taylor doubled our advantage shortly after. Wolves then made more of a game of it as Jose Xavier pulled one back but Blackett-Taylor wasn't going to be out done and he restored our two goal advantage right on the half time mark as he completed his brace.

O'Hare, Harvey Knibbs and Alex Prosser made it a night to remember in the second half and ensure the rout was complete against a side a lot don't even really consider rivals unless we happy to play them.

So even on that basis, bragging rights secured and hopefully the first team were listening and we look to secure second place and then turn to what will be will be.

Next up for the Under 23's is a Premier League Cup clash at Keys Park against Ipswich Town following its earlier postponement and the knockout stages are within reach.

Aston Villa:

Sarkic, Bree, Clark, Bedeau, Borg, Clarke, Blackett-Taylor, Doyle-Hayes (Prosser 77), Hepburn-Murphy (Knibbs 77), O'Hare (Rowe 81), Cox.

Unused substitutes:

Boucher, Finnerty.

Beasley, Buur, Goodcliffe (Odoffin (46), John, Vinagre, Watt, Goncalves, Heredia, Xavier (Ennis 58), Graham, Mir (Seal 58).

Unused substitutes:

Finnie, Randall.

Three classed as first team as well - football's a funny old game.
