Steve Bruce during the 2-0 win over the Blues.

Very touching. Says it all doesn`t it? I have to admit, when people were wondering if he would be there on Sunday, I don`t think I had any doubt. He`s a proper bloke, proper football and by the way he acted on Sunday, proper Villa a well.

I thought it was an unbelievable sign of unity at the club that he would want to be on the touchline after such a harrowing personal week.

I`m quite sure he`s endeared himself even more to the fans who support him and I`d not be at all surprised if his actions have made a few of the doubters think again. There are some that won`t change their opinion, that`s football!

The Steve Bruce thread in our forum..

Aspinall said: A lot of love for him today at Villa Park, he deserved it.

Langoe66 added: Amazing how quickly things can turn. The bloke has received pelters from a few on several occasions this season, some of it understandable, some of it completely unfair. Even in late December the knives were being sharpened again by some and yet just six weeks later it's a different ball game.

Seven on the spin, playing at a high tempo, excellent performances all over the park, united on the pitch as well as off it......yet several wanted him gone and weren't shy in abusing him at every opportunity. This was never going to be a quick fix and thank god we stood by him when results and performances were poor. No doubt he'll get abuse again if we dare to draw or lose a couple but for me he's doing a bloody good job in turning round the complete and utter shambles that AVFC had become. If we were to get automatic promotion it would for me be on a par with the job Sir Graham did when he first arrived at the club.

Carrying that into the premier league in the same way that GT did in leading us back into the old first division will be a different matter but the bloke will no doubt continue to give his all for the club irrespective of how long he stays with us. The fact that he was there today after the awful events of the past two weeks tells us all what Steve Bruce is made of and I for one, hope he continues to lead from the front for a good while longer yet.

it was a very emotional day all round,,, and fair play to the manager for what has been probably one of the worst weeks in his life to turn up and manage the team like he did,,,, much respect,,,
