Aston Villa Owner Issues Rallying Call

Aston Villa Owner Issues Rallying Call

Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has issued a rallying call to fans as we now find ourselves in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign.

Villa go into this weekend's tie with Nottingham Forest sitting inside of the Play Off positions in 5th place but a loss this weekend and victory for Sheffield United would see us drop out.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, our owner felt that we had avoided a serious crisis and improved a lot, but even he admitted we weren't doing as well as he hoped we would.

Not the first time he's said that either.

However he feels that if everyone pulls together and goes in the same direction over the next ten games we will be in a far better position moving forward.

Back on Monday, Xia tweeted in relation to Barry Fry's apology.

'It`s fine that everyone made mistakes. However I agreed we still need to work harder to improve, step by step closer to our targets. Right now I have to admit it`s still a piece of business far away to my expectations, if it`s not the worst among RECON`s different segments.'

He followed that yesterday evening with.

'I'm confident we have turned around the club from very serous crisis & improved a lot though it`s still far away from our long term target. We`ll get there sooner or later, better than later. Being negative all time doesn`t help anything. Stand together to a unifying culture ! #UTV'

'The next 10 games will be very very crucial to us this season. I beg all of you do your best to support and that`s all Villans can contribute the most. Believe me, we together will make it this season! Show the Power of the Unified villa fans! #UTV'

With many fans pointing to Wolves being twelve points clear at the top of the table, relative spending and how they have attracted certain players given their owners relationship with agent Jorge Mendes, the Birmingham Mail have picked up on other tweets that I haven't seen, but I'm guessing they're in response to fans.

'Wolves didn`t need spend much but get loan those players due to M connection. No other clubs can get player like Jota playing in Championship, and with very low wage too.'

With a suggestion Villa could in fact do the same with an influential agent, Xia added.

'I think you may have very different viewpoints after 2-3 years!'

Nice words, but needs to attend more if he wants to tell others to unite. I am not sure he totally gets football. Fans will always debate, moan, react strongly to losses, be beside themselves with wins etc. Take that rollercoaster of emotions away and football would die. He could also have united the community by donating to the fundraising I did for the AV Foundation. The CEO did. We are all in this together aren't we? Maybe!

Meh. That's how I feel. I haven't really warmed to Dr Xia. I don't have a problem with him, but neither am I inspired by him either. In fact, Villa in general leaving me feeling pretty cold to be honest. They are a shadow of the club I fell in love with , but perhaps that says more about me than anything else.

Hope the rallying call included a kick up the backside for Bruce as well....

Someone pointed out on twitter, last time he did a rallying cry (we don't need a rallying cry as fans who attend really) we went on our bad December run! Lol Hope he's not judging negativity etc just by being on twitter.

Think it's modern football more than anything JPA to be honest.

After last weeks disgusting team selection I have zero respect in Bruce and no belief that he will build a strong team that would survive a season in the Premier League. It says a lot that the Owner has to issue a rallying cry thanks to Bruce's poor decisions.

JPA ... do you think that people still fall in love with football clubs if they’re not very good? Sadly, I think things have changed. I get fed up with trying to explain to the young ‘uns why I support a team that’s “never going to win the PL”.
