Aston Villa Owner Issues Rallying Call
Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has issued a rallying call to fans as we now find ourselves in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign.
Villa go into this weekend's tie with Nottingham Forest sitting inside of the Play Off positions in 5th place but a loss this weekend and victory for Sheffield United would see us drop out.
Taking to Twitter yesterday, our owner felt that we had avoided a serious crisis and improved a lot, but even he admitted we weren't doing as well as he hoped we would.
Not the first time he's said that either.
However he feels that if everyone pulls together and goes in the same direction over the next ten games we will be in a far better position moving forward.
Back on Monday, Xia tweeted in relation to Barry Fry's apology.
'It`s fine that everyone made mistakes. However I agreed we still need to work harder to improve, step by step closer to our targets. Right now I have to admit it`s still a piece of business far away to my expectations, if it`s not the worst among RECON`s different segments.'
He followed that yesterday evening with.
'I'm confident we have turned around the club from very serous crisis & improved a lot though it`s still far away from our long term target. We`ll get there sooner or later, better than later. Being negative all time doesn`t help anything. Stand together to a unifying culture ! #UTV'
'The next 10 games will be very very crucial to us this season. I beg all of you do your best to support and that`s all Villans can contribute the most. Believe me, we together will make it this season! Show the Power of the Unified villa fans! #UTV'
With many fans pointing to Wolves being twelve points clear at the top of the table, relative spending and how they have attracted certain players given their owners relationship with agent Jorge Mendes, the Birmingham Mail have picked up on other tweets that I haven't seen, but I'm guessing they're in response to fans.
'Wolves didn`t need spend much but get loan those players due to M connection. No other clubs can get player like Jota playing in Championship, and with very low wage too.'
With a suggestion Villa could in fact do the same with an influential agent, Xia added.
'I think you may have very different viewpoints after 2-3 years!'
