November Villa Loan Update (1/12/17)

Aston Villa have a few players out on loan this season, so here's the next update of the 2017/18 campaign.

With the closure of the summer transfer window - here's the latest state of play with our players elsewhere after three months of action.

Aaron Tshibola:

22 year old Tshibola headed out to League One MK Dons before the first ball of 2017/18 was kicked and during his time at Stadium: MK he took in 15 starting appearances with a further showing from the substitutes bench. He scored his only goal for the club in their EFL Trophy clash with Brighton's Under 23 side.

His loan was cut short two weeks into the month of November.

Carles Gil:

24 year old Gil headed back to Deportivo La Coruna over the summer for a second season long loan spell, but this time it was reported there is a buy clause inserted into the deal. Having recovered from a reasonably long term injury, he returned to full fitness and action this month and now has two appearances to his name this season. On start and one substitute showing.

Jordan Amavi:

23 year old Jordan Amavi finally completed a loan move out to Marseille, with a buy clause in the deal which has now been enacted. He's still classed as on loan until January however. He has made 14 starts for the Ligue 1 side so far this season with a further showing from the substitutes bench.

Pierluigi Gollini:

22 year old goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is now in his second season of a loan out with Atalanta after an apparent 18 month spell was agreed back in January 2017. So far in 2017/18 he has made two appearances for the side.

Kevin Toner:

21 year old youngster Kevin Toner will build on previous loan experience at Bradford, Walsall and Kidderminster as he's with Stevenage this season. So far this campaign he has made five starting appearances with a further four from the substitutes bench.

Matika Sarkic:

Late on during deadline day, goalkeeper Matija Sarkic made the loan switch out to Wigan Athletic. He has now made his debut, starting games for the DW Stadium outfit in matches against Middlesbrough and Crawley Town. There is no clean sheet yet, but both games ended in victory.

Gary Gardner:

Gary Gardner also made a late deadline day move out of the club on loan, heading for Oakwell and Barnsley. So far he has made three starting appearances for them with a further showing from the bench.

Ross McCormack:

Ross McCormack headed out to Melbourne FC on a loan spell at the end of September. He's made seven starts for the Australian side so far, scoring five times.

And that's your lot unless I've forgot somebody again.

Thanks again for that Mike. Good to see what is happening with them as usual.... which actually isn't a lot.

No, I don't know if the likes of Gards have picked up niggles, but was hoping for a lot more game time for him akin to his spell at Forest the other year where he seemed to show some real form and consistency. Toner's not doing too badly given his experience, but hopefully he'll be in double figures soon enough but pleased Sarkic has got a couple of games as he largely went out as cover fullstop so his benefit would've been experience away from Villa.

The high point is McCormack finding form and confidence but whether he remains in Bruce's plans???

I think I read that Gards was injured after the first appearance and was out for some time. So he is on the comeback trail - again. If the Amavi loan turns into a purchase in January, does that give us €8m or so for a new striker?

He definitely picked up a knock earlier in the season but I thought it was short term....if it rumbled on that could explain lack of action. Hopefully second half of season goes better for him. Yes Amavi fee won't cross until January, so not on our books yet and helps with wriggle room in the market without making our current FFP position worse in the Championship.
