Aston Villa DSA Get Changing Space Boost
Aston Villa's Disabled Supporters Association have confirmed positive talks and a promise of action from the club over the supply of a suitable Changing Place for fans in the future.
Fans may remember the piece from back in early October - Click Here - where the AVDSA launched a petition to show the support for a Changing Place in the fanbase and have one added into planned improvements at Villa Park to ensure we have the required number of disabled spaces along with other necessary facilities.
Of course should we achieve promotion back to the Premier League we will also have to comply with the promise we signed up for in the Accessible Stadia Guidance - the deadline was last August for top flight clubs.
For those who don't read the link.
A Changing Place is a larger toilet area with a height adjustable changing bench, a hoist, a shower, a toilet and a sink. Over 1/4 of a million people in the UK cannot use standard accessible toilets. This includes people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, as well as older people. It would allow disabled supporters to use the toilet in safety and comfort, and make life easier for their carers too on match days.
Well it appears we have good news as I stumbled over an update earlier this morning.
'We had a great meeting with the CEO of Aston Villa Football Club who has assured us that they are going ahead with the building of a sensory room and changing place they have had architects in to see where they are best places and that we have the full support of Aston Villa for Our Dsa thank you for your support !'
