U23s - Ipswich Town 2 Aston Villa 1

Aston Villa's Under 23 tie against Ipswich Town at the beginning of the week saw us fall to defeat in the Premier League Cup competition.

Heading to Portman Road on Monday for the tie, the hosts took the lead inside of the opening five minutes and we rode our luck somewhat before Harvey Knibbs tied the scores up at one all. A late winner from the hosts gave them victory however.

Kevin MacDonald's side are still alive in the Cup this year though as we sit in second place in Group E, and the top two sides in each group progress through to the next round in the New Year.

Ipswich:

Gerken, D Crowe, Kenlock, Huws, Woolfenden, Webber, McKendry, McLoughlin, Folami, Rowe, Morris.

Subs:

Clements, M Crowe, Dobra, McGavin, Lankester.

Goals - Conor McKendry, Luke Woolfenden.

Aston Villa:

Johansson, Walker, Borg, Prosser, Finnerty, Bedeau, Cox, Clarke, Knibbs, Ramsey, Blackett-Taylor.

Subs:

Idem, Brunt, Patterson, Bazeley-Graham, Sea.

Goals - Harvey Knibbs.

See we were lacking most of the big guns who won the previous 6-0 U23's match. Not taking the competition seriously?
