U23s - Wolves 0 Aston Villa 2

First half goals from Harry McKirdy and Jordan Lyden took Aston Villa to victory in last night's derby with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Jack Grealish made his return to the pitch, taking in an hour, as our youngsters went one better than their senior counterparts at New Bucks Head and although they had opportunities, Wolves rarely really threatened.

With Callum O'Hare and James Bree also on show, manager Steve Bruce was there to take the match in and Villa now find themselves sitting just three points shy of Middlesbrough in the PL2 Division 2 table.

Wolves:

Burgoyne, Oniangue, Odoffin, Hause, Deslandes, Goncalves, Ronan, Wilson, Xavier (Collins 77), Seedorf (Armstrong 55), Zyro.

Subs:

Rasmussen, John, Yang.

Villa:

Johansson, Bree (Bedeau 63), Suliman, Finnerty, Borg, Doyle-Hayes, Lyden, Blackett-Taylor, O`Hare, Grealish (Cox 60), McKirdy (Knibbs 85).

Subs:

Idem, Prosser.

This is the first U23 game I've been to for a while. A good performance and they play at much faster pace than the first team. Impressed with several of them but the best is Lyden. When will he feature for the first team again? Adds to the centre of the park, unlike Hourihohn who I find missing more often than not. Grealish is still, well Grealish good for getting free kicks but that is about it.

great to hear Gordonsleftboot. I've stopped going, got out of the habit, purely because of the constant changes of venue!
