Manchester United's Juan Mata has again called on Premier League players to match his pledge of 1% of their salary being donated to charity.
The 29 year old player pledged to donate 1% of his salary to charity earlier this season but so far only six players have joined with him and matched the midfielder's offer. Read more: It Mata's To Juan, Why Not All?
Better by the dozen.. Villa managed to make it four wins in a row last time out, when a single goal was enough to secure victory against strugglers Bolton at Villa Park. But as is the habit, just as Villa had built up a head of steam, along came yet another international break and the players were sent off to collect air-miles and risk life and limb in an attempt to enjoy the dubious pleasures of playing in a World Cup. It is to be hoped that those who weren't involved benefited from the rest and those who were, are none the worse for wear, physically or emotionally. But back to the Bolton game. Steve Bruce says as difficult as it is we were beaten by a better team. He admits Villa didn`t do enough without the ball, which is what I was saying on match day. But also, positively, he says we can get back onto another great run and there is still a long way to go. Too right. He`s disappointed in the manner of the defeat though, so hopefully he can get back to training and look at how to change that v Fulham. He says we`ve got to be better at home v them. Manager Steve Bruce has admitted clearly Wolverhampton Wanderers were the better side as Aston Villa slipped to defeat once again this weekend. Making the trip to the Molineux with improved results over September, albeit not performances, it was a Villa pretty much back to their worst as we went down limply two nil on the day and had it not been for Sam Johnstone it could've been a hell of a lot worse.
